New Gaming Rig - £600 Budget - What can I get?

Hi all!

Until recently I've been gaming on an Alienware i7 4700MQ / Nvidia 780m 4GB / 12GB DDR3, but due to a change of positions at work, I'll no longer need the mobility and will be only gaming at home. Because of this, I can't justify keeping such a high cost laptop and will sell it to pay some stuff off & just get a desktop PC for my occasional gaming.

What can I get for £600? I already have 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse & headphones as well as a Win7 license. The only requirement I'll need in the rig is a 128gb SSD & a 1TB HDD (128 for Win + Apps, 1TB for Steam library, no more as I have a microserver for all my downloading needs).

Games that'll be played on it: Titanfall, SWTOR, FIFA15, Marvel Heroes & Alien Isolation. Next gen, I'm looking forward to Star Wars Battlefront & The Division and would love to be able to play them on Med/High.

So, can anyone help? Much appreciated if you can!

Both very slightly over budget ... But to squeeze the 970 in is the best thing imo at the expense of the CPU.

Or dropping from those CPUs you could push to a 8350/i5 4690k with 280x/gtx760

That's pretty impressive. I didn't think you'd be able to build that kind of spec for £600. At risk of suggesting going further over the OP's budget it's probably worth spending another £80 extra to upgrade to an i5-4690K IMO! That'd give you an amazing CPU/GPU combo with straightforward options to upgrade the memory and storage in future if you need to.

Wow! Thanks you ever so much! I had no idea I could get that kind of hardware for that budget!

Would the 970 be a big improvement over a 780? Are AMDs reliable for the current gen of games or do they tend to have more issues on launch before game patches?
