I have 3 x swifts waiting for a large vram card. Just got the one working and Im bored of two black screens looking forward to surround :)

How many cards would give me good framerates on BF4 I don't expect ultra settings would be happy with low tbh just want surround back ;)

3x whatever cards you are using now to get roughly the same fps.

This providing you don't run out of VRAM.

The 8gb 290x's but a single 980 beats it in benchmark anyway

As the resolution increases it becomes less clear cut.

If I had to buy cards to game to game at very high resolution I would go for the 8gb 290Xs as they are cheaper than the 980s as well as having more memory.

I think if they release a 8gb 980 two might do it but I have a feeling they will be in short supply / high demand so three would be a safer bet.

I deffo have to go Nvidia for the benefit of G Sync with the high res 8 gb would be best

as freesync is still in the process if your buying a single card atm id have to take it to Nvida just for the Gsync percs

The 4k benchmarks still show 980 superior plus with the Gsync seems a no brainer, but who knows when the 8gb 970/980 will appear and if the clocks will change slightly

Personally think they still wana milk the Titans before anything new appears

Actually they don't

@4K in multi GPU setups the 290Xs are winning more than the 980s on the game benches.:)

@1080p it is a non contest, the 980s win hands down.

Do you have any links for comparing the 290Xs to the 980s at 4k? Just curious as I'm pondering whether or not to go for a 1440p single-card setup or a double-card 4k setup.

Below 4K it is no contest the 980s win most of the time.

@4K it is very close between the 290Xs and 980s, with 1 or 2 cards the 980s have the edge and with 3 or 4 cards the 290Xs have the edge. What it comes down to as much as anything else is what brand people prefer AMD or NVidia.

Ignoring 8GB cards, etc. a pair of 980s should be fairly playable with 3x Swift aslong as you backed off stuff like MSAA - you might also need to turn down stuff like ambient occlusion a bit but most other features you should be able to keep on high or ultra in most games.
