Brazilian Grand Prix 2014, São Paulo - Race 18/19

He used to be a bit of a playboy and not too much of a PR dream, but a PITA. He only used to care about one thing, himself.

And he shaped up within a season changed his work ethic and became a serious racer. On another note, I have been reading that Caterham were going to give a seat to Barrichello for the last three races as a send off. It is in the ESPNF1.

So will smr delete his account too if Alonso doesn't go to McLaren? :p

Listening to Brundle at the weekend, I'm not even convinced he's leaving Ferrari any more...

Unfortunately due to Abu Debacle this GP doesn't really feel like it matters all that much any more.

Feeling the same, but who knows, a dnf and a grid place penalty could flip everything on its head

There's not been much talk about Mercedes power unit penalties so i guess they have another change or two in hand.

Curent standing

LH 316
NR 292

After brazil

LH 2nd + 18 = 334
NR 1st + 25 = 317

LH 17 ahead into final race

50 points for first, 36 for 2nd gap of: 14 points

SO if Ham is 2nd in remaining races he wins championship by 3 points if ive done that right.

With how it has been going the mercs should finish 1-2 in both remaining races with ease.

If Ham doesnt finish in Brazil and rosberg wins, Ham will need to win the last race as there will be 1 point between them.

If Ham wins in brazil he will need 19 points to secure championship. So 5th should do it

Math.

That's pretty key. It means he can effectively cruise to the championship. 2nd place is almost free for Mercedes.

Though he's not that sort of racer, he'll want to win both races.

I wouldn't say 2nd place is safe. Williams and RBR were pretty close (compared to previous races) in Austin.

I wouldn't say any position is safe if the predicted downpour at Brazil happens, think 2003. ;)

the next best to the mercs in austin was 20 seconds down the road and i think Hamilton was only managing the gap to Rorberg, he could have gone faster.

In Russia Rosberg did a whole GP on 1 set of tires and still beat the williams by 5 seconds hamilton was 13 seconds further up the road and cruised the whole gp.

In Japan then had 20 seconds on 3rd.

They could start at the back and finish 1-2 every GP such is the difference in the cars.

The only thing that can stop them is reliability.

Except you never know when an issue is going to arise in the middle /end of a race, so Im sure LH (and Rosberg) where both going hammer and tong to build up the gap over Williams/RBR

Also the fact that being a different type of track they may well not have as much of an advantage compared to the last few races- we just dont know how that car will react to the (mainly) anti-clockwise /type of corners in brazil

Ahh, I didn't realise the difference was that much at Austin (I should have done some research!). I thought they were only around 7 secs down the road.

Your forgetting a few things. Firstly, it's LH who always has poor reliability when he is leading a race. Secondly, he is up against Rosberg, who is German. Thirdly Hamilton is English, and English sportsmen never seem to make it easy. Finally, based on the way Nico's dad won the championship you just get the feeling it might come full circle and Nico wins despite having less than half the number of wins as Lewis.

Hamilton still has to finish. A DNF for either driver in Brazil puts them in a must win position for Abu Dhabi (well, a 'must beat Rosberg' position for Hamilton, which basically means win)

I think the key moment off this championship was LH saying no to letting nico pass, hungry I think. Also LH experience in these situation is greater than nico's. Im going for an abu dhabi win for LH but this race is up in the air win the mix conditions it can throw. Good track like it.
