Oh, 27" and 1080p? How disappointing. Really want to see some increased competition in the g-sync monitor market, but really couldn't go for such a low pixel pitch. No 24" model on the horizon from Philips either that I can see anywhere.

Still just waiting on a little price drop on the AOC G2460PG then I think.

I'm currently reviewing the new G-SYNC version of this monitor (my third G-SYNC review, so quite well versed). It's honestly a very good gaming monitor - be very careful though, the suffix DJEB is an older non-G-SYNC display whereas DYEB is the G-SYNC model. No further details until the review I'm afraid. Unless I post little teasers on my Twitter account.

PCM2, I value your opinion on all things display related, so perhaps you could provide some input on the pixel pitch issue?

I've only had 22" 1680x1050 monitors, and have been looking forward to both a bigger screen and higher resolution (and now higher refresh, blur reduction and g-sync...). I don't want to spend silly money regularly staying on top of super high-end graphics solutions to power 4K (or 1440p, probably as well), so I've been looking at 24" 1080p.

I've seen a few 27" 1080p monitors, but always been put off because due to pixel pitch, I imagine they'd look subjectively worse in resolution terms due to the lower pixel density. The drop off in density is quite high, s wouldn't everything look less sharp?

What's your take on this (for someone who isn't going to use the monitor from further away than a foot and a half or so)?

Personally I don't find the difference between ~24" and 27" Full HD monitors all that great in terms of pixel pitch. Obviously on paper there is quite a difference, but I find that where I see areas of 'weakness' (or elements that should be sharper) on the 27" model I see exactly the same on a 24" model of the same resolution.

I've used 24" and 27" Full HD models side by side on many occasions and never really found the difference particularly staggering. Having said that I also find that if I go from a 27" to 24" model, the drop is physical size is something I quickly adapt to. I can't quite put my finger on why as I do generally prefer larger monitors, but I find myself quite comfortable with 24" as a screen size to be honest. Given the current price and performance of the AOC g2460Pg, I'd really recommend that over any current 27" monitor in the UK for smooth gaming on the PC. If the 272G5DYEB was actually around £300 then that would change things completely, but it's actually going to be closer to £450.

Cheers. That's interesting. I had no way of comparing what does look like a substantial drop in density on paper to the subjective experience of the image.

Your review of the G2460PG did put that straight to number one position on my list of potential monitors. It's still there. Just waiting to see if the price might drop a bit, and keeping an eye on the alternatives in the meantime. Definitely want to upgrade before early December, though. Perhaps if the G2460PG made a little appearance in a TWO/Today Only deal I'd jump straight on it. Gibbo?! You know you want to! :)

You should check this week only. ;)

Apologies, my bad I saw this on a disti site, did a search and that's what it came up with. Didn't realise that the end part of the code denoted the G-Sync part.
