UK an offended nation

Jeremy Vine offends me, along with his daily mail reading listening ship.

I should write a doctor WHO episode where anyone caught listening to the drival that vine puts out makes there head explode due to a strange radio wave transmitted with the show.

Even talking about his show makes me feel unclean.

Regardless, Cyclists don't pay any sort of tax, insurance etc etc...

They need to stay of the road or accept they are a hazard on the road knowing it might be their last day.

Unless proven otherwise, I probably pay more tax than you, and I'm only a casual cyclist.

Listening to Jeremy Vine on radio 2 at work today and 1 of the topics was cyclist are now offended by a sign on the back of trucks and buses saying cyclists stay back.

Got me thinking is there anything this country isn't offended by these days is this country really turning into a nation of tarts

I've really no idea why anyone would be offended by a sign that warns you to stay back as not staying back means you have a high risk of being squished. Let me guess it must be one of the idiots with NO common sense that is offended by it. Maybe they are the same as the cyclists who are offended by red lights and ignore those too :D

I commute on bike daily myself and the simple fact that I want to be alive at the end of my journey means I will not go up the inside of large vehicles. Personally I thought those signs are a good idea, especially for the not so wise among us. Some people really must have a mundane life if these are the kind of things they have to bring up to complain about.

Therefore that makes it fine to cycle in a line across the road? Is that the point your trying to make?

No the point I'm making is you're full of guff. It doesn't state that you have to ride in single file like you state it does.
It specifically states it's acceptable to ride two abreast. What it does however mention is in some cases it may be more considerate to ride single file.

However they're not equals. Roads are much riskier for cyclists than motor vehicles.

As for insurance? Why? Do horse riders and pedestrians need insurance too?

We should be much more like the Netherlands, one of the safest places for cyclists.

/ thread derailed.

Sure horses should have it too, because neither cyclists nor horses should be on the pavement, which is why pedestrians dont need it because they're on footpaths and for obvious reasons crossing the road or where there are no pavements is just a practical issue because you cant built pavements and underpasses everywhere.

The safety issue is non-valid, motorcyclists have barely more protection than cyclists, they need insurance, and they have to follow the rules of the road.

You should learn to write before you attempt a screenplay, baby steps etc.

I think that Sho needs to log onto Encyclopaedia Dramatica, and slowly scroll down the "Offended" article.

:-)

Oh, and this, the lot of you! vv

The only thing I take offence to is people who people who take offence at stupid things, like that vicar recently, who took offence at halloween because it's a pagan festival.

This thread has got me thinking about what actually, truly offends me.

The only thing or person I can think of is Russell Brand.

Russell Brand truly offends me. I just cannot stand him.

Cyclists are not hazards, it's drivers.

The majority of drivers don't know how to:

A: Use roundabouts
B: Indicate

You know what's ironic, I've not got a driving license OR ever driven a car yet I know how to use roundabouts and indicators more than the majority of the drivers in the UK.

Was talking to a friend of mine earlier who's now under investigation by his HR department for 'hatred of muslims'.

At work today he offered to buy all of his colleagues a bacon sandwich. This included one muslim colleague - to whom he said, I know you'll probably turn it down but I'm offering in case (not knowing how devout he is etc.).
The guy turned it down but thanked my friend anyway for actually bothering to ask rather than just assume like most people do.

Some other sad sack however has complained about it! So my friend had the only muslim in the company actually defending him against a complaint made by someone who isn't muslim.

I think I have seen only one car driver run a red light in all my time driving. I have seen at least 10 or more cyclists ignore a red light...

If your friend knew he was Muslim, why not offer him a cheese sandwich or any non bacon one?
