So I need to fix a cabinet to a wall in a fully tiled bathroom.

I'm a DIY luddite so it's not a task I'm looking forward to, and rather worried I'll just make a mess of the lovely tiles that we have!

Looking on youtube at various how to videos it doesn't seem to bad, however when speaking to real life people about it they've so far all said ooh I wouldn't want to do that.

So is youtube lying to me, basically all the things I've seen have said mask the area you want to drill and make sure you've got the proper bit (which I don't yet), or is it a disaster waiting to happen? ;)

Masking tape, tile drill bit, off you go. If you can get the holes to go through a grout line rather than solid tile then it will be much easier!

Use the correct bits as mentioned above, and most importantly make sure hammer is switched off :D

Grab drillbit and in your hands, twist it back and forth where you want the hole until the glaze of the tile is cracked. This'll mean the bit won't slip.

Then hammer action off and go for it. Once through the tile you can chuck hammer action back on.

Cheers everyone, making feel a little less nervous about wrecking things ;)

Yes had heard a couple of places about cracking the glaze as such, just need to pickup the right bits now.

And yes I had seen in a number of places to make sure it's not on hammer setting :p

Nothing wrong with that just in my experience it greatly reduces the life of the masonry bit if you let it get too hot.

It isn't like they last particularly long if you don't. In fact I think there is a conspiracy regarding the durability of SDS+ masonry bits at the moment.:o
(I think we need a foil hat smiley!)

So which bits recommended, 3 different types so far ;)

Anything wrong with the Bosch set JohnnyG posted?
