Interstellar -- Trailer (Spoilers!)

is a "small" imax worth it over normal 2d? my local cinema in the arse end of nowhere opened their so-called "imax" screen tonight and i found out it's 90m². compare that to BFI london... :D

The BFI London IMAX is the largest cinema screen in Britain. It measures 26m by 20m with a total screen size of 540m². However if showing a film with an aspect ratio of 2.39:1, only 283m² of the screen will be in use, or 365m² for a 1.85:1 film. The auditorium seats 485

BFI is immense, first time there and I was seriously impressed. Popcorn large size was cheap too at under a fiver compared to vue down Portsmouth.

Ok. Well I just saw this.

Don't know how I feel yet, I know how the misses feels, she hates me and says I owe her 3hrs of her life back.
I'm on the fence, I haven't made up my mind yet as it's inbetween brilliant or a feeble attempt to make something akin to 2001, but failing miserably and falling into laughably rubbish.

The cinematography was amazing, unbelievable in some cases, and the dialogue/pacing slow. Anna Hathoway is awful, frankly awful and I wish they'd casted someone else (back to the dialogue) it was obviously intentionally slow, to allow you to reflect on the lifes of the characters and the monumental task ahead, but sometimes it just crawled to such a pace I wanted to fall asleep in my popcorn.

The robot! Well what can I say. Probably a nod to 2001 or another sci fi film I haven't seen, and again is either genius or absolutely ridiculous.
I must sound like an idiot because I can't seem to make up my own mind whether I like it, but this film was beyond me. If there was a deeper message I missed it.

One last thing, boy was it loud (might have just been my cinema) and the sodding Organ pipe music over everything. :/
The ending well, I'll leave it to someone else to describe that.

The only way I can describe how I think others will feel about this is MARMITE. I can see a wealth of people praising it as a work of art, and others hating it completely. To me it was both, at the same time, I'm very confused.

Just got back from seeing it.

Stunning film in so many ways. There were certain scenes in it where I almost had tears of joy streaming down my face, it was so good.

Really, really enjoyed it. A near 3hr film and not once did I look at my watch or start to feel uncomfortable.
Good enough story, looks amazing (and this was non-Imax).
Really worth going to see.

just got back, wow what a film! really enjoyed it, almost like The Abyss but in space lol

took my 8 year old and it was a bit too much for him

worth watching

Anyone else think it looked muddy and out of focus? My cinema assured me it wasn't out of focus, in the end they offered me complimentary tickets :/ It detracted a lot from my enjoyment if I'm honest.

Wow. Loved it, absolutely superb movie! Going to see it again next week but in IMAX this time.

Just back from seeing it, i really enjoyed it and will probably watch it again when its on bluray

.

Yep it was too loud at my local Vue, so loud that it lost detail and was verging on unbearable

Nope was clear and sharp here

Not surprised but disappointed to hear its loud. Batman suffered the same fate to the point where I found it uncomfortable.

Wasn't loud here at all and I was fairly close to the screen. Perhaps other theatres have different sound calibrations.

Watched it last night at a 10:45 special screening in 4K, visuals wise it was absolutely mind blowing, but film wise, average. While it kept me engaged for the full 3 hours, it was slow and the end to me, let it down. Specially the black hole bit. That just left me thinking what the flock as the rest of the film was good.

Will get it on blu-ray when released but only as a visual showcase of how amazing space is as a film setting.
