There is a couple of resolutions that most gamers will play. Check out the sound beating the 290X gets in SLI.
980 SLi gets 5 fps lower mins and 5fps higher max@1440p, hmmm, that extra £70 per 1 fps is really paying off on the max fps there greg.

I love how AMD include features that can be used by all and not just them, Nvidia should seriously take note, Nvidia user here BTW.
Note to self: Must look at the minimum when my choice of brand gets a sound beating in a desperate attempt to make my choice of brand look decent
Only joking and they are good minimums. I really do like the game as well and on G-Sync, it runs absolutely flawless with no slow downs that can be seen or felt. Good job from the UK guys of The Creative Assembly and I had no second thoughts about giving them some of my hard earned cash on this great game.

Aside from all the fanboy posts here, this really is how a game should be developed. Using no GPU exclusive propitiatory technologies, allowing the game to run to it's full potential on either the red or green side.
Hope to see more of this in the future.
Just imagine what would happen if AMD were to go bankrupt and we're left with only Intel and NVIDIA making CPU's and GPU's. We'd see the same 3-5% performance inreases each generation in GPU's also!

Well if they did that, they wouldn't sell many new GPUs and would harm their own sales.

If I bought a new GPU one year after old tech on the market and it wasn't faster I would be extremely mad..
For a one year old GPUs the 290's are holding up very well.
What happened to comparing 290x with 780ti or 290 vs 780? There in the same time frame.

Just watched a gameplay demo for Alien Isolation, looks pretty good. Just wonder whether I can handle the tension! Had to take breaks every 30 mins playing metro 2033 recently.
Well thankfully that is not the case with the 900 series.

If you had to take breaks with Metro prepare to have a med kit and a resuscitation device handy, This game has had me in parts just say "Nope ok **** that I'm out that **** aint right"

As for the game, I am a 6ft roughty toughty docker who was stopping playing for the atmosphere and heart rate going sky high
Really is a high tension game and well worth a purchase.Agreed, the scope for gpu PhysX is massively thwarted by the lock in, it could potentially see a massive uptake if non agnostic techniques were used the same way AMD's approach to graphic techniques benefit the full spectrum of gamers.

If people want a more fair comparison, then compare the 290/290x's to the 780/780ti series cards. You wouldn't compare the 290 to the 680 now would you
Yup it is a shame that us AMD users can't use certain stuff that nvidia have, I really would love to be able to use physx, especially when it comes to the batman games (fav. games)
Also want to try out this DSR thing too, hoping AMD have something soon.....
Those are the only two things I want from nvidia and if I were a nvidia user, the only thing I would want to be able to use from AMD is mantle (amazing for my rig in bf 4, hardline & PVZ [no doubt it will be the same for any future frostbite engine games too i.e. battlefront], dx is a stuttery mess but with mantle, the game is perfectly smooth)

Once you hit medical bay, it gets extremely intense! I had to stop playing for a few days.......

No because price made me very happy.
and mantle even happier. This happened at one point last time think the 780ti was getting compared to 7970's till 290s came out.
It's wrong, it's not how we should be doing things tbh.. They no doubt though the 290's are doing very well.
