hey guys,

i am quite interested in getting the Acer 4k monitor with gsync.
im aware that its a TN but im not fussed, as long as gsync dose its job :)

anyway, i currently run a single gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming card and going to get another soon to run SLI.

the monitor i am using atm is a AOC G2460P, its a 24" 1920x1080p 144hz monitor, now the plan is to have both monitors, use my current monitor for FPS (BF4,COD AW etc) and then use the 4k for MMO,RPG,RTS etc

obviously if the 970 sli will fun those FPS well enough at 4k then i will use the AOC as a spare or just in case the 970's cant play a game at 4k i can play it in 1080.

so do you think these 970's in SLI will handle it ok? not worried about real high FPS as gsync will take care of that :D

cheers

A very rough guide is take whatever fps you get on a single card at 1080p and divide by 4 and then multiply by the number of cards you are going to use at 4K.

So for example you get 100fps @1080p on a single card.

Divide by 4 = 25fps

Multiply by 2 (or what ever the number of cards to be used) = 50fps @4K

The above is very crude and assumes that SLI will work for the games in question.

ah i see, now as the 970's and 980's are still quite new, im assuming they still have some optimizing to do with drivers etc.

do you think its to early to jump to 4k with SLI 970's?

i see, well i will keep my 1080p monitor next to it so if its to much for the cards ill run it on that instead

i would go for it, you dont sound as though your hung up about fps and for me if the games look and play great then its all good

If you do go for it, I would be interested in your feedback on that monitor. I did have it pre-ordered for a couple of months and all paid for but delays followed delays, I gave in and went with the Swift.

it wont be until after xmas im afraid as i will order it with another 970 G1 and some other bit and bobs :)

but yes i shall let you know how it is :)

im sorry to bust your bubble; but I have seen numerous reports of people say there is problems with sli not working with gsync. Nothing worse than spending a fortune and it turns you down

On google mate. People on different forums seem to have been reporting issues with gsync and sli.I personally dont know why BUT i do see that its a problem and that nvidia are working to reslove. Please do correct me if im wrong as id hate to give wrong advice.

SLI and G-Sync here and no problems. BF4 prefers 1 card though and the same with SEV2/Bioshock Infinite but any other game I have played (and there is a lot) run perfect.

Ohhhh and The Evil Within doesn't run in G-Sync, so that is a bit of a downer and I am sure there are other games but I am yet to find them.

No problems with SLI on my 980s.

@Gregster did you see what my 980s did on the SEV2 bench @1080p and it was not even a serious atempt as I was still running the CPU @4.0 and it was a first go on the cards.:D
