I'm not one for jumping into the PC (and associated) debate normally, but I know you GDers love this sort of stuff, so here it is:

A ban on lone adults at an adventure park has been blamed on a paedophile ex-mayor - even though his offences have no link to the attraction.

The ban at Puxton Park near Weston-super-Mare came to light when a man was refused entry to a falconry display because he had no children with him.

Puxton Park said it was being "safety conscious" in introducing the ban.

More and source (BBC)

It seems quite OTT, however they are blaming it on a public level of suspicion brought on by a former Mayor. So basically, a single adult along in the park must be considered a threat?

Absolutely and mind-numbingly ridiculous. England really does have a PC disease and burgeoning (if not already established) paranoia.

I have never understood why people are so worried about this sort of thing. I doubt that all the paedophiles get together and all agree that the best place to perv on kids is when they are watching a falconry display with their parents.

If I owned a business I would tell people to **** *** in no uncertain terms if anyone suggested I do something like this.

You guys ^ want Paedos to be able to walk around children's fun parks unaccompanied?! Damned paedophile apologists.

The story omits to say how that dude arrived wearing nothing but leather shorts, had a bag full of duct tape, cable ties and a tub of petroleum jelly, and was asking the kids in the queue about whether they needed the bathroom. Allegedly.

Strewth, how many victims do there need to be before you guys see sense. Rotherham, Fred West, Hiroshima.... where does it end?

I wonder if there is more to the story than the journalists are writing. There often is with these seemingly ridiculous stories.

Years ago I was stopped in a public park by the keeper and questioned to what I was doing there. I explained I had just had an operation (massive cast on my leg was a give away) and was just sitting on the bench having some lunch and reading.

When I asked why I was questioned he said it was a new directive as parks are family areas.

Should put down all single adults to prevent paedophiles.

Ever heard the phrase "prevention is better than cure"?

Why wait until they become adults, they might already be paedophiles by then! All humans should be killed at birth, it's the only way to be sure.

I wonder how he would have reacted if you'd said "I'm just looking for some kids to perv on"...

Need to see a picture of the man who was denied entry. He might have looked the part.

He doesn't appear to have a raincoat or be carrying any sweets...
