Does anyone know a decent car garage or mechanic near Central Manchester? My Mondeo has some issues which could do with looking at unfortunately I have only recently moved here and have yet to find a decent garage!

Another thought... ditch the car and get something newer?

Seems ashame just having replaced the DMF in the last months. Some details of the car itself:

I have a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130 55 Plate. Since I have purchased it, it has had numerous issues. Most recently I have had the DMF replaced a new clutch amongst a whole bunch of other items.

There is now a whistling coming from the engine, what sounds like something to do with the Turbo or the pipe leading to it?

Around 2 months ago I had all sorts of agro with the crankshaft pulley, aux belt and tensioner and even had the belt, and tensioner replaced multiple times. Ultimately it is still particularly noisy.

I also believe there is something wrong the front passenger side since I have hit a pot hole it is clanking and is not quite right on the steering.

The car itself drives fine in general I have put around 35k in the last 10 months on the car.

This will be a common hose fault I can't remember the specifics of. If you read the ST thread, it's often brought up in there.

If it sounds like you have pigeons in your engine bay, it's probably the exhaust. All the chavs round here driving diesel motors have straight pipes which make it sound like pigeons when they let off the gas to change gear.

Probably the hose from the intercooler to the EGR valve. It's a rubber hose about 6cm wide which runs up to the front left hand corner of the engine as you look at it. Part is about £60 from Ford and it's just a hose clip at either end, might be worth replacing the one at the intercooler end because it tends to go rusty.

No reason for this to set you back more than £100 if it is this.

Whooshing sound - check all your hoses. EGR to Intercooler as said before is common. It'll be a split near the top where it bends down. Get a silicone one and it should fix the problem.

It will be this, and it will have split on the back where it bends in an S shape (ish) just below the EGR valve.

Ill give them a go, its close enough. Seem to have decent reviews and Ford specialists. Seems ideal, cheers again :)
