Is it discriminatory to dislike manga fans?

Just wondering if OcUK thinks it's discrimination to have a prejudice against people that are into Japanese comics etc. (I think this is called manga).

Should mangist people be treated in the same way as those that are sexist, or gayist? I.e. prosecuted under anti-discrimination laws?

At what point does dislike / prejudice become discrimination?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

There's nothing wrong criticising people for being lame (in the non-disabled use of the word, I hasten to add), as long as you aren't a grade-A Big Ben bell when you do so.

Says it all.

Is this Manga that is depicts borderline pedo schoolgirl stuff (what that bloke on here is in to) or tentacles? Or both?

Normal it's more like the walking dead, or basically any comic or graphic novel over here.

Just right to left instead of left to right and usually has more ninjas

Generally speaking, they're no different to cartoons and comics. It has a bad reputation because of a part of Japanese society where some is overtly sexualised for no appreciable reason, and it's these things that get the attention which results in people thinking that manga/anime = overtly sexualised perverted comics/cartoons.

That's a pretty huge caveat. 'Generally speaking' when talking about people who spend hundreds of yen/dollars/pounds on pillows of anime characters they want to put their penis into, becomes less 'general' and more 'umm'.

The sexuall stuff has a different name though. Henati? I think

It's like saying kids magazines here are filthy because we also sell port mags. And their both magazines so must be the same

No doubt there, I'll never understand that behavior. I'm more just talking about manga and anime in general, in that they're just mediums of entertainment like comics and cartoons here. It's the oddities of Japanese society and culture that has lead to the more questionable stuff coming about. From what I've heard, displays of public affection are frowned upon, but it's fine to read lewd comics on the train on the way to work.

Somewhat, Hentai literally means "pervert", however it would still come under the heading anime or manga, because for all intents and purposes anime and manga just means cartoons and comics. The same way that bizarre spin off of Ren & Stimpy was still a cartoon, despite its strictly adult content.

Not quite sure what this thread is about to be honest. It just sounds like you're lumping people together based on one of their many interests. If you haven't read any magna, or watched any anime, I'm not quite how you can comment about it, knowing nothing about it and all. That's my opinion anyway. Watched plenty of anime, not read any of the source material though.

To each their own and all that.
