England's World Cup Bid corrupt, Russia, Qatar OK say FIFA

So the report that concluded the bidding process was corrupt is in fact itself corrupted.

More like the report by Hans-Joachim Eckert who is FIFA's independent ethics adjudicator (how you can be independent and work for FIFA is beyond me) was 'based' on the findings of the 2 year report by Michael Garcia.

Michael Garcia has now stated that Eckert's report "contains numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations".

The original report (Michael Garcia's) has not been seen. Platini wants it published (guess who wants a new job and is just as corrupt)

You really couldn't make this up. FIFA political whitewash to protect the corrupt !!!

I don't know if this has done the rounds but it's a pretty interesting take on FIFA. It show's a FIFA rep also stating that law (the one related to alcohol in stadiums that Flying_Hellfish mentioned) has to be changed and there's no chance of even discussing it, it has to happen.

To be fair, there were a lot of law changes for us to host the olympics. Including extending Sunday opening hours, limitations on use of words like "London" and "2012" etc.

Is it right? dunno. Someone's got to fund these things I suppose, and if that's what sponsors want...

Yeah you can argue the rights and wrongs of that but it's not really corruption because it is legal.

Russia lost all their emails? They didn't even speak to Bin Hamaam? :/ Not giving advance warning of publication to the FA?

Clearly a whitewash. Nothing FIFA does surprises me any more.

To be fair, they weren't official Russian emails, they were volunteer emails who sent themselves while on leave. This also applies to any alleged bribes, as any money that passed into FIFA official's bank accounts from Russia did so voluntarily and without support from the Kremlin :D

It just highlights how mired in corruption FIFA is and how untenable Sepp Blatter's position has become.

I'm not sure it's become untenable. Many countries don't give a rats **** about corruption, and they don't stand a chance of bidding for a World Cup. They profit from corruption and blatter keeps his job. Why is that untenable.

Blatter has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Even if the corruption was proven. Blatter wouldn't face any punishment.

The system is corrupt by design.

Ah well Qatar can carry on building safe in the knowledge that they aren't risking all the money (and the deaths of a bunch of Bangladeshi slaves workers) for nothing.

Why was this not done by an independent body? Who in the right mind thinks it's a good idea to let the accused to investigate itself?

like the pedo investigation at the house of commons? all the delays are not to give them time to hide stuff, of course not.

football is rotten to the core. even just watching a game has lost the fun because cheating (pro fouls) are now part of the game. none of the refs seem to see through it. add to that the number of errors made for things like penalties and or goals (which change the outcome of games and therefore cost clubs money) and at just this basic level it is clear that 'rules' are not the point of the game.

why would it change higher up where there is even more money on the table?
