Just upgraded to a 2600k, my brother needed an i5 and sold mine to him for £75, so I picked up a 2600k for £10 more.

Still running it as 4.5ghz, it seems happy with the overclock settings I'd set in the BIOS while running the 2500k previously.

However, running Heaven 4, the performance has dropped - is this due to HT?

Looks like normal variation with different bench runs to me mate. It's only a matter of 2-4 points.
Could try turning off HT to see if it makes a difference.

I don't think heaven really deals with multi threading anyway. Could be wrong.

use cinebench cpu run to see real difference

and also look in 3dmark11 and firestrike physics results

Cheers - I used Heaven 4 as it was the only thing I had at the time. The CPUs have been switched over now and don't really want to keep switching them out.

Thanks anyway - I thought it would be a good move while I could swap as I'm planning on adding a 2nd GPU in my custom loop later on.

Heaven bench is fairly much gpu limited.

I had very little difference between an i5 750 and i7 4770K when I upgraded, both with a 290X.

So not surprising you are finding the same.

Heaven only sees 4 cores IIRC, so no HT or more cores make much of a difference.

As suggested, run Cinebench R15 and Asus Realbench 2.0 and look at the multi tasking score (it uses all the cores you can give it).
