Hello

Experts PLEASE HELP ME, i am desperate, i can not fix this problem for six months already

i Have 2 sets of this RAM: Avexir Blitz 1.1 Original 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-22400C12 2800MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3UH28001204G-2BZ1)

http://http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-066-AR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1392

this motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-OC Force Intel Z87

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-539-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=567

Machine was running with 4770k with no problem using XMP profile on RAM and had 0 problems. Now i have upgraded to 4790k and whenever i set frequency higher than 1600Mhz it crashes. Windows still loads but there are many errors due to RAM. I tried to use XMP, tried to set manually, set higher timings up to 20-20-20-40 but nothing helps.
I have updated bios to beta f10b, did not help, returned back to f9, the same.

I put the 4770k back and it runs Memtest86+ and SuperPI like charm, no crashes. No problem using XMP or set settings manually.

I tried this on Asus Z97 Deluxe Intel Z97 board as well, same story.

I am going to throw 4790k in the bin or sending it back

Any ideas guys?

Last update: I have managed to run them at 2400Mhz 12,16,16,36 1,65volts
BTW this MOBO Gigabyte Z87X-OC Force is biggest rubbish i ever have seen (have 5 PC's running at the moment and not one gives me problems like this one)

and BTW with 4770k i had 0 problems for last 3 months since i purchased the RAM.
and when i put the 4770k back it runs with no problem like before

What is the point of upgrading you should have just overclocked the 4770k

because 4770k is rubbish when it comes to OC, i have delided it completely and still had 100 degrees when clocked to 4.6Ghz

Now 4790k runs 4.7ghz easy with original TIM and not going over 85 degrees under load.

but that is not the subject at this moment :)

Please Experts, you must have some ideas. I can not believe that 4790k Memory controller is so weak that it can not handle 16gb of 2800mhz ram

16gb of 2800 MHz is a lot to ask, or am i missing something? 2 or 4 sticks?

Even with 2 sticks, I don't think you are guaranteed that its gonna be as simple and XMP and go.

Your gonna need to tweak the timings, do the sticks have a lower MHz XMP profile by any chance?

There are 4sticks each 4gb. RAM specifications are in first post. Same motherboard and 4770k was running on XMP with no problem at all. Problems started when I changed CPU to 4790k. There is only one XMP 2800 mhz. Tried this RAM last night in friends machine on haswells i5 CPU, no problem with XMP. I always end up with bad parts. What about motherboard voltages?

Ok Update

Have thrown Z87x-OC Force in to the bin, and i mean IN the BIN, because it was rubbish. I have not come across that level of badness in my life and i build PC's for about 13 years. Swapped to Hero VII and so far, omg such an improvement, my ram runs even at 3000Mhz and CPU easy goes with 4.8 ghz when z87x-OC Force i could not even get 4,5 without 1,3 volts and RAM wont even post above 2400Mhz. And speed of loading Drives and devices is about 500% faster now.
Dam gigabyte, so good hardware but so weak Bios support.......
