I still have a copy of Dragon Age 2 knocking about. When it was released I got bored pretty quick and uninstalled it for some reason. Think it's worth another punt with 3 coming out?

Hee, probably right. Thing is I'm not, or wasn't, into RPG's at all, but then a little game called Skyrim came along and totally changed all that. But that's the only RPG type game I've properly played I think.

I read the PC gamer review of DA3 today, and it looks lovely and sounds good. Think I might give it a shot, as I'd like to see the Frostbite 3 engine used differently

I really hope they include some kind of equivalent to Mass Effect Genesis so you can get to understand what's happened so far. The last game in a trilogy is not the best to start with, I'm sure.

They did one better, The Keep! It allows you to shape the world based on all the decisions you have made (or would have made) in the first two games. It then gives you a cinematic of that journey, potrayed as a reading of a tapestry.

I didn't mind DA2 its not great and it was a bit of a hash [ lots of the same levels used again and again ] but the story was enjoyable

Thanks. I sort of got half way through the decision world creating but I got a bit sad as to some of the choices as I had no idea who was who. So it seemed like a futile exercise just to decide whether a young boy had been possessed or died without knowing whether he was a brat or a good lad. :D I gave up.

I'm going to try playing it on my decrepit laptop. I've got Origins in Origin from when they gave it away for free.

2 was soul crushingly awful. There was the most lifeless boring dull city in which a huge portion of the game took place, or that one cave/tunnel system that somehow looked identical in every other mission you had to do outside the main cell block/city. The NPC's were all boring, not funny, lifeless, the main characters were pretty lifeless and boring.

Dragon age 2, get a big mage spell, watch the screen go boom, the end.

Even ignoring DA:O it was a boring as hell game, compared to DA:O it's going from one of the better or maybe best I've ever played to one of the worst.

It was in particular bad due to rubbish upgrade/armour system, mostly the changes to party members. RPG's don't have to be about making players stronger/loot, I'm not a loot game whore at all. IE I find the concept of Diablo 3/Borderlands idiotic, play through again to get better weapons, why, so you can play through again to get better weapons, why, so you can get better weapons... infinite looop.

But it was just one of, I won't say the many but EVERY area of the game in which it was dumbed down, simplified and turned from interesting to boring.

ic1male, absolutely play DA:O, it's a brilliant game.

Thanks fellas. I don't think I'm going to bother now. Too many other good games to play and not enough time.

Think I might give the new one a go though.
