Seeing corruption first hand is extremely saddening, and to be forced to lose all respect for police is even sadder.

Waiting outside the pool club for a friend, frozen solid with my hands in my pockets a 5-man strong gang of utter scums puts on their anchors and run out towards me. They proceed to tell me I'm "standing in a weird place that's all". I immediately inform them that I'm aware they're full of BS and that there is absolutely no legal definition of a "weird place" and any powers given to police over citizens standing in such "weird places".

They then hastily change their story from "weird place that's all" and proceed to tell me I'm in a "drugs hotspot".

I inform them that I'm not aware of, or witness to, any drug taking going on and it still doesn't give them any right to approach me as they/myself have not seen any violent crime or had any reports of violent crime occurring.

Seeing their faces go red due to losing all hope of performing an illegal search, he proceeds to ask me my name and details. Still confused about being a suspect in "standing in a weird place" and/or "standing in a drugs hotspot" I ask him to clarify his suspicions and the reasons for approaching me. Response, "just give me your ID or we'll put you in a cell to find out who you are". :(

Knowing I have a friend on his way to meet me, and knowing that I wasn't guilty or wanted for anything, and to avoid the displeasure of being threatened and coerced further, I just gave him my ID.

The funny thing is, they managed to ascertain whether or not I had drugs on me and whether I was guilty of standing in a weird place just from doing a name check. :D I asked the copper how amazing this was and he just walked away red faced.

These scums were clearly motivated to approach me for reasons other than crime detection and prevention, possibly race. So people of OcUK, what can we do to stop scums like this from tarnishing and giving a bad rep to our Police forces?

Referring to the police "scums", how very edgy and mature.

I'm not referring to the police as scums. I'm referring to these specific people as scums. Read the last sentence, I clearly distinguish between Scums and the Police force.

You sound like one of those guys who thinks anyone in a Police outfit is an absolutely amazing guy just because he's in a Police uniform. And you think I'm the immature one :p

Police checking out a dodgy bloke hanging around in a dodgy area sounds like they are doing their job tbh... :)

Sounds like you were being an obstructive and uncooperative ****, and they did a bloody good job keeping their composure and remaining professional in the face of such an attitude.

If I saw you loitering outside on your own in the cold/dark outside a club I'd ask questions as well.

Good on you, Asim.

Law abiding citizens shouldn't be expected to accept intimidation from our police service. Hopefully they'll think twice about whether "reasonable suspicion" actually applies before going off on a power trip next time.

Police abuse powers all the time, my mate got stopped and asked where he was going for no good reasons the copper just said cos I need to know, wtf!, it's just ****

Hopefully you got numbers and can complain

So people of OcUK, what can we do to stop scums like this from tarnishing and giving a bad rep to our Police forces?

Well I guess we can take down their numbers and report the incident and file a complaint.

I take it you actually did that?
Or did you just moan here?

It appears you do possess illegal drugs and therefore you deserve to get searched! On your OcUK profile you say your interests are Lemon and Amnesia - one can only assume you're referring to a type or types of weed.

Also, can't you buy an Uzi in 15 minutes or something like that?

Edit: And as mentioned, you can always file a complaint or film your next encounter as that will help strengthen your case.
