I have just bought a Sony 4k projector for gaming and movies, it comes with Hdmi 2.0

My current card (280x) only manages 4k @30fps.

I am trying to workout if I should just buy another 280x for xfire and settle for 2560x1440 resolution vs the cost and myder! Of upgrading to the 970 or 980.

One more thing, will my current card do 60fps at 2560x1440?

the reason you only get 30hz at 4k is because the only gpu's to have hdmi 2.0 supporting 60hz at 4k are 970 and 980 so time to sell up

Now if only they could get their games to run that fast ..........

+1

Been trying to play Far Cry 3 for days now, The stuttering is insane, The fps without V-Sync on at 1080P goes from 100-200, With V-sync it's a solid 60 but the GPU usage goes from 0% to 60% sporadically making the game a stuttering mess.

I used to run a 7970, then 7970 trifire with a 7990, then just the 7990 on a 30" 1600p panel, then a 1440p panel (RoG Swift).

280x SLI won't be enough, you won't be happy with it. You can probably pick up a 2nd hand 280x for what, £120?

Or you could sell your 280x for £120, put in an additional £120-130, and get a 970.

Effectively, you can have a 970 for the same cost as a 2nd 280x. I know which I'd choose.
