Big Swing in Market Share From AMD to NVIDIA: JPR

Even the HD5000 seroies(and after the HD4000 series),at most AMD/ATI could do was match Nvidia marketshare even when Nvidia had nothing to compete at the high end for nearly six months and it was a nine month wait for the GTX460 too,and that includes laptops where AMD/ATI were doing quite well in discrete graphics sales at the time as a result too.

Pretty sure Cat 12.9 beta were what the 12.11 Whql were based on which is why i said September. From September on the 7970 was the better card on this forum. 7970's started owning in just about every bench apart from those that pushed the boundary's. Gregster's gtx680 springs to mind. Titan came around and ended what was a good period for Amd cards on this forum.

So 3 months before the 7970 equalled the gtx680 in performance and the beta drivers were around September. I could be wrong about the drivers but i am pretty sure amd had started releasing Beta's instead of there monthly whql. I think 12.11 was a whql of an earlier beta in September.

Not in all games did the ghz editions beat Kepler, it took the offical 12.11 for the gcn to be refined with the clocks.
So whilst I claimed a year it was publicly known november 2012,
Hence if Amd had released the drivers and the clocks on release date they would have countered the keplers more successfully.

I should have worded it as The Official marketed driver was 12.11 along with their games offer, the others which were betas as you say, but weren't official.

Even with 12.11 in mind it's just over half a year. The Ghz edition still evened things up.

Six years is a long time to wait, but patience, perseverance, and more than a few snub moves against NVIDIA have paid off for AMD. For the first time in 6 years we can say that AMD is truly competitive for the single-GPU performance crown. The Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition isn’t quite fast enough to outright win, but it is unquestionably fast enough to tie the GeForce GTX 680 as the fastest single-GPU video card in the world today. With that said there’s a lot of data to go through, so let’s dive in.

This is how i remember it. 3 months to equal Nvidia's performance and not to long after to better it.

It just got embarrassing when the beta performance drivers came out a good few months before it went whql lolz.

Right back at you + don't post till you know more about marketing & advertising

Hold on.. So you're agreeing Nvidia have better advertising? Which is what I said (Here), they have better advertising and products atm.. You're agreeing but making an argument out if it..

Getting all put out because Nvidia are ahead then making condescending comments to others :D Putting in your little rolleyes.. Oh dear..

How about you don't post until you know how to comment without coming across like a jumped up little oik that needs a good spanking :p

Oh well at least some of these comments make me chuckle... Fanboys :D

Snippet from the conclusion of that comparison just so where all on the same page.

"The GeForce GTX 680 represents a tremendous piece of technology that any gamer should love to have in his rig. The GeForce GTX 670 represents what is easily the best value in enthusiast PC gaming GPUs. Pick your poison.

Kyle and I have both been running Radeon HD 7970 configurations in our primary gaming machines for months now and been happy with these solutions. Both of us are now going Green once again."

You sound mad bro :D

Once again, you don't seem to be able to understand "simple" things... Rather than repeating myself "again", I suggest you re-read the posts :) Plenty of other people on here understand + agree with what I am saying....

And only one thing worse than than brand fanboys and that is post-purchase rationalisation, in case you don't understand that term... it means fanboy of whatever you own at the time, you're welcome.

There is only one person on this forum that doesn't have any preference/loyalty to either brand and that is kaapstad.

Lol wish i had Kaap's money to be totally neutral and buy as much PC parts as my heart desired.

Overclocking AMD?

Nice knowing you all. It's only a matter of time.

It's a reference to the temperatures vs Nvidia. Please see the humour.

He probably works very hard to fund his hobby, as do most of us.

My hobby is taking the missus shopping so she can buy what she wants

Our hobbies are similar but i just let my woman do what she wants lol. Just for the record loads of people work there butts off but can in no way afford this much hardware. I would have it no other way though as without Kaap on this forum we would not get to see just about every top end configuration that's available.
