So despite what someone said in the weight loss thread, it is actually not that easy to find tasty recipes that are still reasonably low calorie, at least not ones that I like the look of.

So I suggest that we post our recipes for food that we're eating which also includes a calorie count. I have made two batches of food that I'll add below that I've frozen and that I can reheat when I'm lazy. The stroganoff is around 650 cal when you add rice which isn't bad for a filling main meal.

I do this fairly frequently and you can eat loads of it too - the majority of calories comes from the olive oil as courgettes, summer squash, tomatoes, chili etc are minimal. Think it comes in at around 500-600 calories for the whole recipe.

Also my No 1. recommendation for breakfast is oatmeal with nuts + dried fruit, have had this just about every day for the last couple months and it's awesome at keeping you full.

Add 1/2 cup rolled/multi-grain oats to a small pan, add 1 cup water from boiling kettle then cook for 4-5 minutes low heat. Use a mixture of dried nuts/fruit and it will be a 350ish calorie dish. The oatmeal is 150 calories and then add 150-200 calories of nuts and fruit. Can add a splash of milk, honey, banana, blueberries etc too if you want to mix it up but bear in mind that will add a few more cals.

Overnight Oats are nice. We have them in little jars.

I use:

- 20g granola

- 50g 0% greek yohurt

- drizzle of honey

- few raspberries, or blueberries

- 15g rolled oats

- 50g more of yogurt

- finish with a little drizzle of honey, some berries and almonds.

It's about 270kcal per pot and fills you right up.
The pic contains no berries as we changed as we went, the above is the best recipe. It's tasty as anything.

I've basically eaten nothing but soup (with the odd seeded roll) for like 5 days now. I should be a slim machine in, oh, 12 years.

Soup is great in this weather though, really easy to make.

Did a butternut squash soup last night. So easy.

Roasted some butternut squash (prob about 500g)in a tsp of coconut oil for 20 mins, add a drizzle of honey, back in for 20 mins.
I then used a potato ricer, but you could use a blender and then pass the liquid through a seive/chinois/ etc. then add 750ml of chicken stock, blended it all up.

That simple but bloody tasty.

I love butternut squash soup. I make this spicy one a lot. I love it. The recipe says 8 servings but that's nonsense. I get 5 decent portions out of it. Works out about 200 calories a portion for 5 portions (8 would be 125 kcal - but you'd still be hungry :p).

macca, your posts seem to be more of a "now eating" thread vibe than a "post your recipes and kcal content". Some of that stuff I guess it's obvious what is in there to those of us that cook a lot and know our kcal but for people like the OP it might not be.

Indeed, I'm really after recipes with associated cal counts. This thread is really for recipes than what you've eaten.

I thought it was a 'weight loss recipe' thread, these are the recipes that I am loosing weight with, when I stop loosing weight with them I'll stop posting.

Counting calories is a waste of time

Concentrating on good nutrition rather than counting calories will not only improve metabolic health in the short term but may promote sustained weight loss. A recent randomised study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine showed that an energy-unrestricted higher-fat and low-refined-carbohydrate diet (restricting carbohydrates without fibre) resulted in more weight loss and a better lipid profile than a low-fat diet at 1 year

If not calculating the calories is going to make you throw your toys out the pram I'll stop contributing no problem :)
