My colleagues van was recently broken into, after having seeing the back window and mesh all kicked in and 2k's worth of tools stolen from his recently new vito van. I've realised the stock alarms are not up to standard so I'm Looking for a good car alarm for my astravan something like the viper 5901 as it won 2014 award 10/10 but I think that's a US model ?

Also any idea on how much it would cost to fit it ?

Not really got a budget just would like piece of mind.

An alarm won't deter a thief, 9/10 times people hear an alarm go off and think nothing of it.

But if you're after suggestions, the Toad Ai606 is highly rated and was installed on my previous car.

An alarm won't stop a thief, quite common for tools to be stolen like this, ideally he shouldn't keep tools overnight in the van and put a sticker on saying so, ive seen plent of vans like that.

Indeed. In most cases an alarm is a wasted investment. Spending money on physical security like meshes over rear windows etc would be more valuable IMO.

After last weeks episode, I'm inclined to think that perhaps nothing would deter a thief?
Spent a considerable amount of time breaking into my car and changing out the locks and ECUs then driving it away. In front of a CCTV camera, 2 office windows, and quite a few people walked by without questioning it at all.

Harsh :(

Has it been found?

If they want it they will take it. Remove the tools out of the van at night I would do
