Have you bought an MSI GTX 970?

Mine updated through Live Update a couple of days ago, sorted the fan issue out. BIOS Version NV316MH.182

Mine is quiet, runs cool and OCs well :)

Question... are we sure this fixes the "polling issue" (IE. where the fan spins for a couple of seconds every 30 secs or so) ???

Surprised that it's got to be an update to the BIOS in the graphics card to sort this. I would have thought that Nvidia could have sorted this in the drivers!? As it only started after release 344.16:confused:

Right, i tried live update again and i'm getting the error, an invalid argument was encountered. Tried running as admin to no avail. Tried google and MSI forum is down for maintenance :( Anyone had this issue?

mikemod

Decided to try Live update 6. Though with some trepidation... as I've had problem with earlier versions of this!!!

But as luck would have it... it appeared to work OK and fixes the "fan polling issue".

AfterBurner now shows the fan speed as "0", rather than "1" and the fans now stay at zero RPM as they are supposed to do (tested with latest Nvidia drivers).

:):):)

Good news, fixed mine as well

Heisenberg, not sure what that error is, unless .NET drivers or some other support files are not up to date.

Not sure really. Do the .NET drivers not update when you install a new game? Sure I've seen it pop up. I googled it and there's a few threads on msi forums but the forums are down for maintenance. If I had the file I could do it manually with NV flash but I can't even find a link out with the forum lol

I bought first one which had fan issue. Then Bought Asus Strix, sold it after 2 weeks as I wasn't happy.
Bought another MSI GTX970 no issues at all, great card.
