How much of your earnings do you save?

We save 100% of my wifes salary, which is less given that she doesn't work full time any more, but it's still good at around £4k/month (pre tax).

30% (around 15% each month and my bonus once a year which is a further 15% of joint take home). Currently we pay about 25% in child care costs so should be able to further overpay the mortgage once the kids are in school

She locums (optometry) back in the UK for ~10-12 days/month on residentials, all expenses paid and it varies from £350-£500/day. We've now got an accountant to try and minimise the tax bill but it will be a fairly noticeable chunk of that I'm sure.

In fact we worked out that if we ever do return to the UK she never needs to go full time again (unless she decides to run her own practice), it just doesn't make any sense.

Not much at all, and it's very depressing :(. Honestly the rental market and housing costs in the UK need a bloody good looking at, I earn a decent enough wage for my age but I'm still a LONG way off ever affording to buy a house without having to move back to my mum's to try and save (in reality wouldn't work due to increased commute anyway!).

My only idea is to work in London for ~3 years but live like a bum while I'm there and save for a deposit during that time.

26 with a 3 bed detached house and 2 cars.
I don't really 'save' anything at the minute, but I always put aside money for car repairs, house maintenance and so on, so not sure if that counts as savings?
I also overpay the mortgage. It should be £543 but I pay £600 (90% LTV mortgage, when 2 year fixed deal ends I want be applying for 85% LTV mortgages).

I have recently started a new job that pays more, but with more commuting distance, but the prospect of overtime could really boost my disposable income.

For reals, what do you do and how much are you paid? That is bonkers. You must be self employed or way way way over 60k?

For real. I just moved from 28.1k -> 31.5k + OT.
I am a design engineer. My previous employer was a **** to me. Really liking my new role.
The house was £112500 in May 2013 in Longton ST3 and I borrowed 90%. The housing market was on its backside :D.

Ah yes, up north lol just noticed. That is the place to be, the cost of living is much lower but the wages aren't that much different. It is grim though right? Or so I've been told. A 3 bed detached in Bristol would be ~400k.

And the rest.

A friend did recently get a nice semi-detached in the outskirts for £200k (2 bedroom), which I thought was quite good.
