Samsung S27D590C 27" Curved Widescreen LED Monitor - Black @ £319.99 inc VAT

MO-207-SA_400.jpg

Our new, 27-inch curved monitor takes movie watching and gaming to new heights, from the monitor's unique curved screen and comprehensive entertainment features, to the incredible picture quality and the impressive sleek design," said Phil Gaut, Director of Display, Samsung UK & Ireland. "The S27D590C further emphasises our focus to create a truly immersive and unforgettable entertainment experience.

The curvature of the S27D590C improves the viewing experience in comparison to traditional flat screen monitors, as the screen boasts nearly uniform viewing distances from the centre of the screen to its edges. This curve of the screen matches the natural curve of the human eye and makes it easy for viewers to completely immerse themselves in games and films.
Additionally, the screen's curve creates a wider field of view and greater sense of depth, which enables viewers to enjoy a panoramic experience and gives the screen a 3D-like effect. The 3D effect is particularly apparent when enjoying games, such as racing and flight simulators, avatar-based adventures and shooting games.

With an ultra-wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, both horizontally and vertically, the curved monitor's vertical alignment (VA) panel optimises the viewing experience from any position and minimises picture distortion. In addition, the S27D590C's Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio technology delivers a high contrast ratio of 3000:1 and 350 cd/m2 brightness help produce life-like images with deeper blacks, pristine whites and brighter colours.

The integration of enhanced entertainment features takes gaming and multimedia content experiences to the next level. The monitor comes fully equipped with built-in 5-watt dual speakers that deliver high-quality stereo sound as well as a game mode function that can be quickly activated with a simple touch of a button. The game mode intelligently detects on-screen changes and corrects blurry images, enhances colours and alters contrast for improved visibility of in-game action.

The monitor has a minimalist design, ensuring viewers enjoy the enhanced viewing experience of the curved screen without any distraction. Users can also easily adjust the screen angle using the tilt screen function to minimise glare and reflection. The monitor also supports 100x100 mm VESA standard brackets for stress-free wall or table mounting.

We are the only stockist in the UK of curved monitors and this will no doubt be the case until March 2015, these monitors are absolutely superb! :)

Thanks Gibbo, I meant more specifically the 2 curved lg's in terms of response time and motion blur etc. Coming from a 120hz tn panel 1ms, those concerns are the only things holding me back currently.

IPS will never match TN for response and 60Hz will never match 120Hz for smoothness.

There are definitely choices we the users have to make right now, even if budget is limitless! I was quite pleased with this post of mine earlier today, although I'm sure it's incomplete and could be improved :)

Still need to decide whether what I want to go out of the 34UC97, ROG Swift, or the Acer 4K G-Sync one. Anybody give any pointers? I don't really play FPS games at all so the response time/refresh rate isn't huge to me - I much prefer games looking stunning visually since I play a lot of RPG games and generally games of that kind of nature. The 34UC97 is obviously a huge screen and the curve gives it that huge level of immersion, but it doesn't have G-Sync. A lot of people seem to be having issues with the ROG Swift, and while it's a great monitor I'd much rather sacrifice the 144hz and 1ms G2G for the few extra inches and the curve. Obviously you're also losing the G-Sync but the 34UC97 is only 60hz and I'll probably be playing on 970 SLI so it shouldn't be too much of an issue?

Then there's the Acer 4k. Like I said I'm much more fond of games looking better visually rather than having the extra responsiveness, but obviously the graphics card horsepower for 4k is absurd.

All are tempting, but I have a feeling the Samsung will be the best of this bunch. How likely is it they will land mid-December?

I don't care about January sales but I do care about blowing my bonus on a new monitor!

Tempted to replace my random selection of three dell 24" 1920x1200 monitors with a 34UC97-P, since I've found eyefinity a bit hit and miss and three screens is a bit much for desk/desktop space.

What's the difference between the UC87 and UC97 - is it just the stand or am I missing something?

Yup, just the stand. Plus the rear of the screen is black to help it blend into office environments a bit better.

I noticed on the spec sheet on UC87 it mentioned calibration, I think it means nothing but don't suppose there is the slim chance this one is compatible with LUT is it?
