No post, A little help on new build

Hello,
So building up my new home server and it won't power up.

2nd hand B75 itx board and i3 2120
New corsair CX500 V2 PSU

Double checked the 4 pin is in but the 24 pin feels very tight to get in but i'm fairly sure it's home.

Any advice/help? It doesn't even power itself up to get to post.

Just to add, CPU fan spins a bit then stops once power pressed, then spins a bit and stops.

Try removing BIOS battery and clear CMOS. Might be some BIOS tweaking done by previous owner of motherboard and it's not playing nice with new hardware.

is there any lights on the board to indicate its getting power? does the PSU fans spin up?

is anything displayed on the screen or does it not get that far?

clear the cmos as well if the boards 2nd hand, did the processor come with it?

Just tried that.

Currently on the lines of;
a)DOA PSU (hope not as it's from OCUK)
b)Dead mobo but was taken from working build by person who sold it to me on MM

CMOS cleared. Nothing on screen at all, it's failing to get up and running completely.
Board is 2nd hand and a Gigabyte GA-B75N
CPU is 2nd hand from a different member and is an Intel i3 2120

OK,
Looking at PSU. It is spinning down and looks to be the culprit here. I guess that must be the problem but will test with an additional PSU Monday I think.

I don't think I'll need to do that now, watched the PSU (removed it from case) and hit the power button, the fan on the bottom spun up for 10 seconds then back down then spun up for another 10 and continued to do this.

This looks to me to be behaviour of a duff PSU. Will throw an RMA in this evening and fully confirm Monday evening the PSU is at fault.

Very annoyed.

at least its something you can rma and not a duff board or processor which was second hand and cannot rma

PSU tested on known working rig and it works fine. In fact it's powering the i7 PC I'm using to type this. So ideas on a postcard, or below. I'm thinking it could now be the motherboard or my stupidity?
I'll reconnect the PSU tonight to make sure it isn't me "mis-building" it but it looks like it is the mobo.
