Every lap cars get faster in the race, ers goes, he drops say 2 seconds a lap, but the faster every lap doesn't disappear. Bottas doing 1:46.3, Rosberg 2 seconds slower, same as before.

Maybe, he's going maybe too slow as Massa will be on both way fresher and way faster tires, he can go almost qualifying mode for the last probably 10-12 laps and will only be what 4-6 seconds behind Hamilton after pitting.

There is also the slim possibility he could go to the end though you suspect the tires will get risky at some point and Massa might be throwing away a certain second and chance at first by staying out.
