Dragon Age:inquisition

I'm impressed with the amount of content on just one map (Hinterlands) so far. Are the other locations just as big, I wonder?

Played a few hours now and the Tactics screen is annoyingly simple :(

In DA:O you could actually set up your party to be competent, to only use certain abilities on Elites, to focus healing on your tank etc. However, in this, you just activate or de activate abilities which is a bit annoying.

Totally agree.

Was talking to my missus about it. Now I'm having to baby sit my companions more because they can't do it right!

Apparently the game really comes into its own after a certain point, around 15 hour mark or so! Cnat wait as im already rather enjoying it

Yea i agree the combat is a mess and is very limited in terms or tactics and party control but im enjoying the story and character stuff mainly

This is my first new-gen game that I don't want to put down. The quests haven't been thrilling so far but the sheer sense of wonder you get from exploring is the best. You never know what surprises are round the next corner. And I'm still only in the Hinterlands!

Hinterlands massive... I hope all the other land I visit later are like so.

Over 12 hours in and only level 6, playing on nightmare. Wondering around the lake region and it's crazy! One rift had level 6 which was moderately easy to dispatch and around the corner, another rift and they're level 12. Got utter mulled before I can run away.

And it all started when I wanted to kill some Rams...

I know exactly where you are; I started that rift, paused to send out some tactics and... 'Oh ****, well I am dead'.

No idea how you are not finding the combat incredibly annoying on Nightmare - I am doing it on Hard and start throwing my toys out the pram when Varric is just chilling next to a rage demon getting anally violated.

I babysit my characters more than DA:O because of the lack of tactics. There's no prioritisation!

Also, send the tank forward and taunt whilst my rogue stabby stabby helps distract the baddies from my support classes.

I am playing on Nightmare for the achievement tbh, for a game that can last over 200hours, I can't forsee myself playing it again on Nightmare after 1 play through!

Yeah I've taken the auto-cast off pretty much all of my characters' moves apart from the really simple ones with short CDs. I was having a browse of the Mage spells yesterday and the fire tree seems pretty awesome - can't wait for Wall of Fire for my ranged guys to hide behind.

Yeah, I was wondering why they've done that - there are several areas that are level 12 so it means you'll be questing in another map to level up before you can complete the Hinterlands fully.

Apparently there's a dragon down South and some ice laser beam shooting demon somewhere North, so clearly they're blocking off areas so you can only enter when appropriate... Much better like that than leaving it too open, as I won't ever finish the main mission otherwise!

Yeah, I stumbled upon the dragon accidentally and got toasted pronto. God knows how you're supposed to fight that thing and the dragonlings that are running around.

Yes, I never thought about them blocking off certain areas like that but that doesn't apply to the level 12 rifts, they're just in non-important spots on the map.

I'm sure I'm missing something with this but I still have no idea what is going on. I'm getting a bit bored now as the game does not really explain anything so I have no idea what I'm meant to be doing or what I'm meant to do with all the loot I have collected.

I'm tempted to start again but not sure it's going to help.

Did you read the Kotaku link from a few pages back, that explains the back story to Dragon Age? I found that helped, and I also bought the game guide (thank god, as there are some decisions I would have never known what the consequences were)

your not alone moogley :p i have the same problem ,i feel like there is something I'm just not getting or doing right I'm busy setting up all the camps at the moment but when i enter fights etc I'm just standing with my finger on the trigger until i die or they die whilst popping a potion or 2  i would be a lot happier if it was just me fighting alone like skyrim or similar.

After all the crap over hyped games I've bought I eventually have hit the Holy Grail, this is the best RPG I've played bar none. Graphics immense on PS4, sound good acting good and story good so far, playabilty is awesome it's just a great world to play in.

Everyone should read codex entries as it helps to get accustomed with the story.

Damn never thought KOTOR or Mass Effect or Tales of Symphonia could be beating, but this is a 10/10 easy, welcome back Bioware!
