As Title, can't decide which is best! I'm not bothered about heat or noise and always had amd but open to change. Currently leaning towards the 290x lightning but I'm not sure...

Spend my money for me!

Edit: Coming from a 6990 so a single card solution with good performance wanted. Only 1080p

At this sort of budget it's a toss up between a 970 and a 290x, depends on which brand-specific features you want etc. Personally, I would go with the 970. I was a long time AMD user but switched to nvidia recently and the drivers really appear to be better. The card performs nicely, it's cooler and more efficient than the 290x. Also, 9xx series cards are mostly good clockers so you might be able to reach 1500mhz on stock voltage.

You should wait until deals on friday.

Deals on here Friday I assume?

Also I'm not overly interested in overclocking so if there is something that comes with higher clocks that would be more desirable.

America has apparently leaked to the UK!

I thought it was supposed to be "Cyber Monday" for online stores anyway :/

Black Friday marketing is far more successful and we just run it as a whole week/weekend thing or until the stock is all gone, whatever comes sooner.

If you check our website you will see we have a dedicated Black Friday section which already has products in it and more products shall be added throughout the week. :)

Any product showing in that section has already being discounted and won't be discounted further as it is at the Black Friday saving, hundreds of pounds discounted of certain items.

1080P I think you should lean towards a GTX970 most people will recommend MSI (most people have coilwhine though)or the Gigabyte G1 I personally have the Galax EXOCs and are pretty cool and silent.

If your going to upgrade your monitor later on to 1440 or 4K you might be better off looking into a R9-290 or R9-290X

Not interested in 4k so will keep what I have. They all seem very similar so it's difficult to choose!
