Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

Is the 2013 moto G definitely getting lollipop?

I had my 2013 Moto G out today at work, where they all have iPhones. They kept asking what phone it was and couldn't believe it when I told them it cost only 80 quid.

Bought the 5" 2nd Gen version today for some dual sim goodness so it will be replacing me Note 3 and work Nokia 925 as I'm sick of carting 2 phones around.

Honestly can't believe the performance for £140 and as I don't play games ever on my phone I don't think I'll missing the Note 3's power. I know for certain I wont miss Touchwiz or Windows phone.

i've got cm12 installed, wifi/mobile data working and restoring my backups now! gotta say, so happy to have this so soon and almost working 100%! at the moment the only thing i've found not to be working is the camera, which i'm not even bothered about!

Where is the cheapest place for the 1st gen this at the moment? Preferably unlocked. I've seen Amazon at £128. Any others?

Would it be better to get it from Tesco? I've seen it on there for £125 and I've seen some discount codes floating around too. And then get it unlocked with one of those codes from the bay?

I'm slightly sceptical about lollipop coming to the moto g. I reckon there is a good chance that the hardware is not cut out for it. 1gb ram especially. Reports are that the nexus 7 v1 is basically broken with lollipop and the 2 share similar hardware apart from processors. Sceptical but still eagerly anticipating its release.

Interesting to know. I'm definitely not going to be an early adopter though.

i've been running cm12 just fine for the past few weeks. it'll easily handle 5.0.

My sister has the N7 V1 with 5.0 and it ran surprisingly well. I didn't see any real issue. It was fairly fast and fluid.

It will run 5.0 without any hassle what so ever, if it runs crap its because Motorola have borked the optimisation not because of Android.
