Disappointments of the '14 F1 season

from everything I heard on sky he is definitely at McLaren

Selective hearing then. It was a yes hell be at McLaren, but it is not signed and they are still arguing about t&cs. Which is not signed months ago. It's a 99.999999999999999% he will be at mclaren, but until it's signed they can't announce anything.

Give this man a cookie.

The whole Alonso/JB thing is annoying and boring to say the least but it has certainly added something that F1 has lost over the last few years... the season is over and we still have seats to be confirmed, this can be good for the sport, adding uncertainty for the grid next year, keeping everyone (including us) checking and rechecking sites hammering the F5 key 'til death and back again.

2015: will Maclaren Honda fail or surprise everyone and be fight Merc at the top...

The V6 hybrid engine and the sound of it.

I'm still torn.

Performance wise the engines are fantastic. I love the tech behind them, I love the torque making the cars a massive handful to drive, visually the cars are much more exciting to watch than in previous years.

As for the noise, I quite liked it in person at the Silverstone GP. The volume was fine for me, I didn't end up with a headache after the race which was nice.
It's a shame it's such a muted note really, as turbo cars in the past have sounded great despite not necessarily revving to 18k rpm!

Pro's of the season

1 - Ricardo proving he has what it takes
2 - Jb dragging that dog of car to finishes it didn't deserve
3 - LH being a grown up and not a spoilt little boy
4 - I actuslyl like the noise of them engines etc

Dislikes
1 - Rosburgs attitude
2 - Rosbergs on track behaviour
3 - The bottom 2 teams being pushed out
4 - Bernie Ecleston

Entire race weekend on TV.

Until pen is put to paper and signed and sealed, then mclaren aren't going to announce anything, and why should they. If JB/KM aren't happy about waiting they can leave, obviously that's not going to happen. But Mclaren can't do anything else, they said they want the best driver.

Why can't they sign one of them? It's not like it matters, they must already know which one they want to stay regardless of Alonso. That driver could already have a contract. They could sign KM for instance thinking Alonso is coming, Alonso could decide he's rather not and then they could sign JB anyway.

Because they probably don't know.
There's probably two big sticking points, cost and no1 status. Which would affect the second choice. Alonso is more than likely asking for no1 status in contract, mclaren and JB probably don't want Alonso to have no1 status. So it probably will depend on the T&Cs of Alonso to who they have as the second driver.

I don't think JB is being treated fairly

But feel sorry for him hell no.

He's has a career doing something that only a couple of handfulls of people have ever done and he's made a mint whilst doing it.

I'd love to have had 15 years driving formula 1 cars and being compensated for doing so with mind watering amounts of money.

I'm disappointed that..

Bianchi's accident happened :(

Bernie has anything to do with F1, still.

Lewis and his obsession of sorting out his barnet, post race, in any refection available.

RBR didn't get to grips with the new regs for Ricciardo, there's no doubt he's going to be a world champion, not if, just when.

They still do interviews on the podiums.

On the whole I didn't think 2014 F1 season was bad as people make out. The two drivers that deserved the title were (regardless of points) Hamilton/Ricciardo. I don't rate Rosberg as a racer, he's a good driver, not a good racer.

It could have been tighter, challenge wise by other constructors, but I for one had enough of the finger to last a lifetime. So Mercedes dominance was good for me (and bloody impressive). Plus Toto Wolff*, every time he spoke made my day!

*Highlight of the season :D

must have been a good season if people are moaning about someone's hair in a 'what was crap about this season' thread

3 moans: double points / podium interviews / lack of press conference post race

Williams - only getting 3rd in WCC despite having by far the second best car on the grid. Massa's inconsistency was frustrating.

Not really his fault. He got taken out a number of times through no fault of his own. The incidents with Perez and Raikonnen for two examples.
