Ferguson and Michael Brown

Fair result.

Take colour out of it...

Guy high on drugs. Guy robs store. Resists arrest. Goes for armed officers gun. Gun is discharged in struggle. Guy hits police officer. Guy runs. Guy gets drawn on. Guy charges at police officer. Police officer defends himself. Guy dies.

Now for those of you who want to put colour into it. Black guy wasn't doing the stereotype any favours. High on weed and robbing a store before the incident. Granted robbing a store doesn't warrant you being shot. Assualting an armed police officer and going for his weapon does though. If it was a black cop there wouldn't have been this reaction, more of a sense of maybe it was justified off the bat. If the culprit was white, more of a sense of justification. If it was the direct oposite, black cop white culprit, nothing would have come of it...

Keeping on the colour theme, grand jury would have bee ethnically diverse. They reached the conlcusion cop's actions were justified. Says a lot.

Maybe. JUST MAYBE. Michael Brown wasn't as sweet and innocent as everyone makes out?

It's still a shame and unfortunate. But he made those decisions.

Couldn't agree more with this statement.

It seems to be only those that are citing racism here are the actual racist ones. He would have still been shot if he was white.

The jury have heard all the facts and it was their decision that Michael was in the wrong and the killing was justified.

Hope the police officer enjoys a nice honeymoon and gets away from this nonsense. Realistically no Mayor will want him still serving on the force still, though they have no actual grounds to sack him... hope they give him a big pay off to leave. Tis bad that they had to release his name in the first place, career now ruined all because the media jumped on and started race baiting over an unremarkable incident.

We'll never know whether this version of events is the truth now.

Maybe so. Grand Jury would have heard different versions of 'the truth', they decided that the most plausible one was the one where the officer acted duly.

One thing that was quite embarrassing in the early stages were all the eye witnesses saying Michael was running away and shot in the back multiple times. Autopsy report came out and proved all them a bunch of liars. I have avoided mentioning colour here, but you can have a guess as to what colour these eye witnesses were...

They want to be treated equally and fairly (and rightly so), but when you fail to do something as simple as telling the truth to what you saw, and try to play the racist card out of something that was never race related, how can you espect things to ever be equal?

I get what you're saying and would just like to say that we're not all like that.... Well I'am not!

Oh no I know that, and I meant no offence by it.

But say you was the police officer that took those eye witness statements. All match up, thinking here we go, easy peasy. Autopsy comes out, they all lied. In an age where stereotyping unfortunately exists your thoughts are going to be massively skewed.

I dont dispute that one bit. Those questioned (the witnesses) clearly have a chip on their shoulder.

I dont see how people can get over these"Racial" issues without a group of people constantly bringing it up.

That is where the problem is. More specifically when it is brought up when there is no need to bring it up. E.g. Michael Brown case.

Unfortunately racism will always exist, and when racist issues arise they need to be dealt with swiftly and firmly. The trouble you have nowadays is that everything is deemed racist... you will eventually water down the meaning of the word and the mavity of the situations.

Beneath a veneer of acceptance, the US is a deeply racist state. Across large parts, especially the South from news reports the police and justice system appears to be almost totally white.

Racist in what way? I'm keen to know.

Thugs gonna thug...

It's a really stupid reaction.

"You shot our lovely baby boy who wouldn't hurt a fly, had a wonderful upbringing and was surrounded by loving and caring people... and to prove that, we're going to destroy a load of stuff and attack people"

And then they wonder why the police are so trigger happy when dealing with them.

Indeed.

Can't believe the officer has got away with murder! :/

Hm, not really.

Can't believe the officer has got away with murder! :/

Technically he wasn't even on trial for murder. Grand Jury decides if there is enough evidence to bring charges against someone...

Even if the Grand Jury said there was a case to answer, he would then have to go on trial for a charge, might not even of been 1st degree murder, and he could have still been found not guilty then...

All that indicates is that not a lot of non-white people want to become LEOs in those areas.

Not strictly true. It indicates that not a lot of non-white people become LEOs in those areas, it doesn't give any indication of the reason, whether that's because they don't want to, are prevented from doing so due to racism of recruiters, are unable to do so due to poor education caused by poor socio-economic upbringing, etc.

lol.

Is it hard to believe they a lot of simply dont want to become officers. Might go against their who "**** the cops lifestyle"!

Some figures would be good here. Yes maybe only 10% of the police department might be black. But the population might resemble that figure...

I bet the figures do not tell the 'herp derp racist' scene some people portray...

This is another thing that annoys me; quotas in the work place. Similar to the 'not enough black managers in the premier league.' fiasco. Why is positive discrimination ok?

I wouldn't want to be denied a job just because of the colour of my skin. Equally, I wouldn't want to be given a job just because of the colour of my skin.

Yeah. I'm sure every single non-white person has a "*** the cops lifestyle". Just like there are no white people with a "**** the cops lifestyle".

I really hope your post was tongue in cheek, since otherwise it just goes to prove the inherent racism in the situation...
