Is it just me (possibly!), or on the older FF games is there a mammoth jump in difficulty from normal progressive gameplay to the final boss battles?
If I take FF13 and 13-2, then (nasty linear style aside), there's a nice progression in challenge, which although it's probably slightly too easy, goes in a steadily increasing curve throughout the game.
On FF7/FF9/FFX which I've recently played through, all of them seem to be pretty reasonable all the way through, and then at the final boss battle it's incredibly hard, to the point where I die countless times and end up using YouTube to see the end of the story.
So, am I rubbish at these, or is this a hallmark of the older FF games? I wouldn't say I've rushed them, I've played through the story and explored plenty of areas.
