Justifying new technology

What worries me more is that people seem unconcerned by their reliance on technology. When something is automated people no longer need to know how to do it themselves. This is fine until the automated version is unavailable... then what will they do ?

Blowing into it is not working.. We're DOOMED!

Keep hitting the buttons and panic.

How do you survive without knowing how to make greatswords and ploughs? What about growing corn, skinning animals and preparing herb remedies? Doesn't that worry you?
Mankind has always relied on technology shared through culture, it's what separates us from the rest of the animals. The idea that we're becoming "too depedant" on it is absurd, we've been totally dependant on technology since we discovered fire and we got rid of fur.

As for the tech gadgets that seem to pop up like mushrooms everywhere, they've strayed from the path of utility and boldly stepped into the realm of fashion. I personally don't care about fashion so I don't own 20 pairs of shoes, nor do I change my smartphone every year. Lots of other people are different, to each his own.

deadly serious, to rub salt into the wounds, when i returned to work, my boss was there with his new iphone 6

back to town i went and spent another £700  i was already paying £55 a month and locked into my iphone 5s contract, so i now have a £700 iphone and paying £55 a month for the sim im using

I only got £200 trade in for my old phone, but at least I'm happy knowing that I still have the most up to date technology

I've no idea how I'm going to explain to my mum and dad, that the money they gave us to help pay for our new carpets was spent on the new 5k retina imac. Why do apple keep doing this to me!!!!!!! I'm in so much debt it's not funny. I've no idea how I'm going to pay for all this.

Does anyone know any good balance transfer credit cards I can use? I need to free up around £500 for when the apple watch comes out

Spending money you don't have to buy things you don't need to annoy people you don't like.

What I want to know is what everyone does with their old, obsolete technology? I have a bunch of stuff that would probably not even be worth selling on the MM but I hesitate to throw it out, bunch of LGA 775 stuff, sticks of DDR2, that old hp tablet that was a bargain, the list goes on.......

To be on the cutting edge just isn't worth the price: performance ratio. Always stay a year or so behind to maximise the value :p
