Immigration figure published.

In 2011, the prime minister insisted the government would reduce net migration from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands, "no ifs, no buts".

To be fair he hasn't let any Ifs or Buts in, just loads of Eastern Europeans and 'Muslamic darkies' [/DailFail] instead. :D

This is indeed a great showcase of how people are idiots when it comes to how they place blame and how these sort of issues affect the party people vote for.

The mess that labour created will be felt for a very very long time. Its not as simple as just stopping people in the EU coming to the UK. We have a system that is so attractive to people from less wealthy countries that they will flock here in their hundreds of thousands. Benefits, the NHS and the countries general work ethic have all been damaged by labours entitlement culture that told everyone that they deserved everything from life even if they put no effort in.

They'll be teaching Hindi and Amharic instead of Spanish, French and German soon.

Maybe, but you'd at least expect a static value, or a slight decline, not a massive increase!

My council got a rollicking because they put up a sign with 8 different languages but missed out English :D

I really hate to support the Conservatives usual reply of "its the mess labour left" but I think it'll take a lot longer than one or two governments to actually undo it.

Weren't the Conservatives crowing about having cut immigration a couple of years ago? Well imo they can't claim credit for good numbers one year then blame Labour for bad numbers the next. The simple fact is that the government has lost control of immigration - it was handed over to Brussels in 1992 (by a Conservative government) without the foresight of considering what subsequent EU expansion eastwards would mean.

Biggest surprise for me is that emigration figure. I would be interested in seeing what type of people are leaving, and to where.

I can't find figures for this year yet (I suspect its too early) and all I can find at present is that over 50% left in 2007 to study or work. That's quite a large figure to be losing year on year. No further analysis available though so there's no indications as to whether once they've studied abroad they come back to join the UK workforce, how long people stay abroad (on average) to work, and so on.

Go to Canterbury, I feel like I'm in Poland so UKIP all the way

Poles are taking jobs away from British men with ladders. THIS IS A DISGRACE!

Just been lolling to myself remembering all the pro-immigration lot confidently predicting that not many Romanians or Bulgarians would come to the UK because they don't have any cultural ties to the UK like Polish people did.

Migration Statistics Quarterly Report, November 2014

32,000 Romanian and Bulgarian (EU2) citizens immigrated to the UK in the year ending June 2014, a statistically significant increase from 18,000 in the previous 12 months.

14k extra Romanians and Bulgarians is a lot?

The UK can no longer enter the USA green card lottery because over 50,000 leave the UK to the USA each and every year.

And add NZ\Australia anywhere to get out of this **** hole.

Even in the small market town I have noticed a recent flood of foreign speakers. I am not against immigration but it has been a shock on the scale of it in such a short time.

Not good news for Cameron!

Not good news for those who see UKIP as a threat to our future. It is 'capital' for the Great Unwashed who think immigration is the only issue we have.

I bet the Spanish are sick of hearing British accents in the Costa Del Sol. Anyway, some areas, normally where there is cheaper housing will attract those on lower incomes, British and Eastern European alike. This doesn't mean the whole area is foreign though.

Good point. The NHS is facing unprecedented pressure, at a time when public services are being cut, is mass immigration a good thing?

Without immigrants working in the NHS the NHS would be under a lot more pressure. Remember that a lot of the pressure is from an ageing population and not just immigration.

Not just that but I have actually seen Polish road signs going up!

Pictures or I am calling shenanigans.

Miłego dnia

Irony as people complaining about immigration become immigrants themselves. :D

My GF is an immigrant and complains about the number of foreigners here, its nothing to do with racism.

Immigration-ception as immigrant complains about immigration! :D

I never said racism, I said irony as people from the UK migrate to other countries siting immigration as an issue.
