Super Smash Bros, for Wii U and 3DS

Yup, there's are always going to be bad connections around, always an issue for online games - fighting games in particular. Guess I've been somewhat lucky with my first experiences.

Had around 20 games online (4 mans), and nearly every game has had some sort of connection hitch, it really kills the flow of the matches. My connection is fine everywhere else, but i'm going to be buying a USB to Ethernet adapter to go wired.

This game struggles online as there is generally a delay from when you press the button to the action happening on screen. It's definitely a game you need mates around in person to really enjoy imo

Indeed there's some input lag, not much but i notice it. Need to try 1v1's yet.

Nah there is little to no delay 1v1 with good connection.

Not true, I think they said it's at least 6 frames of intentional input lag on the online mode to mask lag. So you're playing a rather different game to those with friends playing offline.

I can deal with 6 frames easily. its not hard to adjust when there is little to no tech in this game.

Doesn't feel like any delay to me.

Is it worth trying to get use to the default controls on the gamepad/pro controller? Struggled a bit with the location of the jump button but selecting a custom profile all the time (and for multiple users) isn't great either.

Just fired this up for the first time and i think its grea, bit of a smash bros noob but the game doesnt seem to hard to learn the basics but im guessing its hard to master, be cool if anyone one my friends list fancies a few friendly games online sometime today? sanddancer is my online wii name

I'm new to it all too and yes getting the controls to melt into your mind takes a while - just hit the training and soon enough it'll start to click.

I absolutely can't play without the pro controller though - gamepad feels awkward. I'm starting to see why people are going for the gc controller.

Ive never tried the pro controller on it, i bought the version with the gamecube adapter as ive got some gamecube controllers, but ill be on later ill u an add.

I tried some 1v1 over wireless and the experience seemed the same(as good) as when playing wired with the LAN adapter. I cant reach any definite conclusions without quite extensive testing against the same player though.
I do get a consistent 1ms lower ping when over the wired on the Wii U, but it's probably only worth grabbing the adapter if you're super serious or are experiencing lag over wireless with good internet. If you get the occasional spike in otherwise smooth matches, that could be an issue with the stability of your wireless.

Managed to pick up smash with the GameCube adapter from Smyths if anyone has a branch local, probably not people's first choice for games etc hence the stock.
