I bought a PVR from Currys for my Mummy about 3 months ago and it's developed a fault but we've hunted high & low and can't find a receipt.
The item was paid for with cash so what rights do I have and what can I do?

Thanks

If you know the date or rough date you purchased it, they will be able to find the item for you on the system, providing its not something really popular where they sell 10+ a week or something. If you go in when its quiet they might offer an exchange providing they can find the transaction.

Or if you gave any personal details like your name and address at the time, they'll be able to find it through that.

A bloke sitting with me now says they usually ask for an address, which they did, so it should be on the system.
My Mumsie hopefully will be happy.

Thanks

What a nice thing to do for your Mummy. Respect.

I expect they will offer a repair or a replacement. You could potentially ask for a full refund?

As your attorney I recommend buying some plastic pockets - when you buy a new piece of kit worth more that say £50 - stick the receipt, the warranty the instructions, the spare cable/dongle/cd in there for safekeeping for times like this.

currys keep a record of all receipts as its a tv product they would have taken your post code and house number as it used to be law for tv licensing, (not sure if it anymore though), so if you dont have a receipt its real easy for the staff to look up! you dont need a receipt

I've only just seen the title :D
Bloody small fonts on phones and not wearing my glasses.

(I actually did it on my PC but shhhh)

It's a known fact fonts get smaller as you get older.

Its a key part of the medicines cabinets hunting strategy.

Do you know when you bought it? 'Cause I imagine it'll still be in their systems, so they'll be able to look up the transaction in store.

Went back to Currys and they just swapped it, my Mama is not happy she's lost a hard drive full of Christmas films.
