** ABSOLUTE BEAUTY FROM ACER: WORLDS FIRST 4k IPS DTS HDMI 2.0 ZEROFRAME MONITOR!! **

I dont get the 27" 4k monitor. Surely it is useless to have 4k on such a small display. Min for 4k should be really for the big tvs/monitors where it needs the added pixels. Smaller screens are pretty good with res like 1080p or 1440 but anything higher will you really get any wow factor from the same res on a much larger screen like 32in or ideally a 50" tv at 4k.

Surely this is not fact and down to how well your eyes perceive the differences between the two resolutions?

The pixel density is going to be about higher on a smaller panel. So unless you've got poor eye sight... It should make a high difference

what if I told you that some phones with ~5" screens and laptops with ~14" are 2k already and going bigger res in the near future...

4K on 27-28" will be great, once windows sorts out the scaling.

I have seen someone else admit in one thread he has poor eyesight, and then in another thread stated 'as a fact' that 4K on less than 32" is useless.

I run a 166dpi zenbook, and have no issues at all, and I don't use Windows' scaling at all... but then my eyesight is not poor.

Why do Overclockers always have to post up monitors with degrading, NSFW images on them?

Perhaps you should be working at work instead of lusting after a new monitor? Don't see that an attractive fully clothed model next to a product (or displayed on it) is degrading the temporary tatts are a bit naff given. These monitors are aimed at a market that is primarily male hence they use attractive females fast cars etc to advertise them. Diet coke sell primarily to young women and so often use attractive men in their adverts.

Gibbo, if and when you speak to Acer to confirm prices and other things, would it be possible to get a bit more info on the S277HK (27")?

- Will it use SST, or still the very slightly fiddly MST to drive the panel?
- With 100% sRGB and 10 bit, it sounds like capable panel: does it do Adobe RGB and how much of that colourspace would it be able to cover?
- Anything on height/tilt/swivel/pivot adjustments or Vesa mounting?

Any further info would be much appreciated as I'm now undecided between the Acer S277HK and the Dell UP2414Q

I would say the price is correst. Looks like Manufactures are going to be selling a lot more 4K(UHD) gaming monitors. The New Asus one ASUS UHD PB279Q is expected to RRP @ £650 and as always asus demand that little extra due to branding.

How's it degrading to have a picture of a beautiful model who makes her living out of posing for public pictures being on a monitor?

I know it's kinda NSFW, but the whole OCuk site isn't exactly a work site is it.

I suspect the Asus uses the same panel... Possibly a fastly superior stand, lots of HDMI inputs, but no HDMI 2.

Also an option ; )

Great looking screen but the stand looks awful.

I don't think it is awful looking, but it certainly looks like the swifel/pivot/height adjustment option of that stand belong to a £99.95 monitor... (IE none) which is in my humble opinion a big mistake, and I would go for the Asus at £50 more despite missing HDMI2.
