Pumps in serial: DDC vs D5

Got 2x 18w DDC's and 2x D5's and thinking of doubling them up as my loop is very restrictive.

I want over 1 Gallon per minute on my flow rate, a single DDC manages 0.9 Gallons per minute and a single D5 on full power only managers 0.6!!

Now as I have a pair of each pumps I'm trying to decide which 2 I should run in serial to get my flow rates up.

The DDC's have more pumping power but the D5's have a higher flow rate.

I can get the pump top for the DDC's for £30 so while the top is cheap the pumps are nosier then the D5's.

On the flip side the top for the D5's will be more expensive but they'll be quieter.

What would you guys go for?

Can I ask why your loop is so restrictive ?. im only asking as mine is pretty restrictive and I get around 1.39 ltr ph

^ Assuming you meant 139 LPH, that's just 0.6 GPM.

OP: Go with dual DDC and tone them both down. At max, you will be quite higher than 1 GPM anyway. Swiftech tops seem to be the best performing ones but given the part where you can barely buy them in the UK, just go with whatever you like.

That's not enough! You need more power too!

How am I to tone them down? They're not the PWM version?

I would say the D5's, but then I own a pair so biased

Generally speaking when doubling up on pumps you do D5 in series or DDC in parallel, this is because the D5 has great flow as standard and running them in series beefs up the head, whereas the DDC have great head as standard and running them in parallel beefs up the flow rate. You can OFC get tops that do either.

If my flow is far to low, will it effect my temps ? if so is it drasticly effected ?
As it happens I have a spare d5 vario in a box somewhere. where would I put that ?

Output of the d5/res combo>input of the other d5 ect ect.

I have x1 hardware labs 480 rad , x1 360 hardware labs 360 rad. only cooling motherboard block(built in) and cpu(new EK evo block)
Should I be concerned ?

Reason why im asking I am running my d5 at full pelt atm.

Parallel is rubbish and causes an 80%+ drop in pressure if a pump fails.

I run all HWLabs radiators and while they're good rads, they're the most restrictive on the market by a long way!

You ideally need ATLEAST 1Gpm flow rate in your loop, it can affect temps if it's low.

Probably a daft question, but how do you measure the flow rate so accurately?

You can buy pump tops for them that mount to together but I suppose you can have them anywhere in the loop.

Quite expensive. Is there something that would go in line and send a RPM value to a fan header?

Nope, the Aquero these plug into has to convert the signal to a value it can use.

A motherboard fan header will not have that ability!

no 1t the base model, you can mad a 1t to use a fan plug then put it into a fan header on the mother board and your golden.

mine as a PWM board you will ever have a pwm board or a 18w board you should look into it.

but onto been quiet, mine made one hell of a lot of noise when i got it, but putting it on a pad fixed it.
try putting yours on a something soft, ever at 100% it a lot better.

So what cables are on the pump? Just a full size Molex?

Mine have full size molex (with 2 wires connected) and a single wire to a fan header (for rpm monitoring).
I simply fit a resistor inline with the positive molex wire to reduce speed.. Dropped from 12v to around 9v on both pumps (2 in serial). Silent.
