*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I actually kinda like the moon and Venus for farming, my usual routine is to loop round the public events, good for most of the bounties and ascendants to boot. Mars is too big and nothing seems to need spinmetal.

So we don't have to spend 20years running around in circles getting materials anymore? Good stuff.
Only problem is that marks might be useful post-DLC so you might have to decide what to use them on other than saving yourself from farming. Good for the long-term though for sure

ps3ud0

All good improvements, there making it a lot easier rot get to 30 in preparation for the DLC which is a good thing.

Mythoclast is going to be a beast when upgraded :)

i might actually get my Mythoclast out of the vault now and use it. Great news about buying materials, makes running strikes to get marks a worthwhile thing now.

I would, it's pretty brutal in PvP again now. Even headshotting with Suros I was losing the straight fights I'd usually win. Really want a Vex now..

They'll be a bunch of new weapons to buy, so I'm going to keep 150 of them aside to see if anything takes my fancy! I did buy a load of materials with some spare marks on another character so I've now got plenty to go at. Finally finished upgrading a bunch of weapons I've had unlocked for ages!

I quite like the update so far although a couple of criticisms I have are; 1) Inability to trade in surplus materials; 2) 20 material for 10 marks? Each upgrade requires 16 materials thus 32 for 10 marks would have made more sense.

Overall though it is positive.

The Templar cheese is annoying (bonus chest FTW) but, honestly I understand the fight and have no issue with killing him properly.

My Suros also sounds beastly when ADS! :D

EDIT: Just seen a valid post on the Destiny forums - If we don't play PvP how are we meant to gain Crucible marks to spend at the three non VG /CB vendors? Perhaps a change needs to be made to allow them to accept VG marks? After all you get VG marks when gaining rep for them. It seems odd that VG marks can only be used at the VG yet crucible marks can be used at 5 of the 7 vendors.

Killing him without teleporting isn't that hard, you just need to block each of them by standing in the red rings when it says attempting to teleport in the chat feed. There's a few decent guides about that show where to position people to block them easily, just means splitting up. I think there are only two spots he will attempt to teleport to.

Pretty nice guide here on some useful setups for subclasses - http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheG...w_that_the_templar_is_fixed_how_is_my_insert/

Edit: here's a YouTube video of some guys doing it. Should still work after the patch, http://youtu.be/727o0Dykwts, looks like they had the two blocking his teleports damaging the boss while everyone else just worked on all the other enemies.

Overall the patch seems a good addition to the game, the ability to exchange marks for materials is a god send and will save so much time running around trying to find/nodes chest, and was more frustration than trying to get energy/shards. Down side is I now have to wait until Friday before upgrading the final bits for some exotics now

However disappointed but not surprised that they have only sorted one bug in VoG, and at that the one bug that is not too bad to overcome, although I had expected the Templar cheese to have been patched out quicker.

Finally a nightfall with Solar!

Nexus Strike
Epic
Lightswitch
Angry
Solar Burn
Nightfall

VoC and icrebreaker and Hezen’s Vengeance going to come in very handy then :D

VoC + Gjallahorn ahoy! And sunsinger just for fun :D

Glad I haven't splurged coins for a while, will get a stock of shards from Xur this week....pain in the **** I can't get my Gjallahorn maxed in time for tonight's raid but never mind, should be able to get my VoC maxed.

Legendary engram dropped this morning....lovely I though, I like this patch....then it turns into *another* TDYK. Good gun, but it's like my 4th.

The fact that the Vex has gone up to 323 attack....if the way I understand attack values is correct, we're going to need a whole new suite of weapons for Crota's end hard mode. 300 attack = 100% damage on level 30 enemies, you'll be punching two levels below on 32 enemies with your maxed current gear :S

I'm assuming the normal level of the new raid will be all 30 Mobs so it shouldn't be a problem, only the Hard will be 32 and you'll probably have new weapons by then.

Woooo Solar burn FTW! :D

2 x level 30 Self revive Sunsinger Warlocks and Icebreaker..... mmmmmm..... :p

EDIT: Oh and a level 29 Gunslinger Hunter running 300 attack Solar Epitaph 2261 & 300 Attack Solar Steel Oracle....

I think the Nexus mind should call in sick TBH!

This!

I must have spent atleast a days worth of playtime solely running around for ****ing upgrade mats. Across multiple armor/weapons on 3 characters.

With vanguard marks coming out of my eyeballs on all 3 characters, a thing of the past, woohoo!! :)

It is indeed good news, my second character was almost at vanguard cap but was still only rank 1 so couldn't buy anything :( patch drops and I bought lots of lovely mats, which then all got used on upgrades :D

I didn't see it in the patch notes but have they increased the chances of legendary drops? I know it is RNG but I haven't had one drop for past 2 or 3 weeks but 3 dropped last night. Unfortunately 2 for a hunter and 1 for a titan when I have 2 warlocks but good for if I ever set up new characters.

Shame you can't cheese the templar any more. Isn't there a bonus chest that only appears if you force him off the edge?

...how the **** do you actually kill the Templar then?

Shame on you all. Its funny how changes like this bring out the people who have never done the raid properly and only ever cheesed it. I can't believe that neither of you have never even once done it properly.

They only increased the chance of getting a legendary engram as part of the cryptarch level upgrade reward packages, not as part of the main game.

Just a bit annoying how much Ascendant stuff Ive used prior to the patch - though its not like I have none stocked up atm.

Gonna buy a load of Exotic Shards as I suspect all the new Exotics will need them now

You say that like its a bad thing. Legendary and Raid weapons are unchanged, so its only the exotic weapons that you could have saved the shards / energy for.

But look at this another way, each exotic you maxed using easily obtainable shards / energy is an exotic you didn't need to level up using an exotic shard at 7 strange coins a time. I can now max out a couple of exotics, but need the shards to do so which is going to be a significant outlay in strange coins.

I honestly don't get the hate that people are having for bungie over these changes. People who farmed for hours and hours are now complaining that they feel hard done by. The community asked for this, it was a massive voice coming from the community that we didn't like having to do chest runs for hours. Bungie listenned and delivered, now you can earn them 2 ways - by the patrol mission bounty and by doing the daily heroic. In addition to new ones to earn them, you can just buy them with those vanguard marks everybody moans they have no use for ! plus they are very easy to earn if you do the nightfall, weekly heroic and then do some tiger strikes and public events.

So what if you spent some time doing an activity that you don't need to do anymore. You played the game and enjoyed it. If you didn't enjoy it, and now feel sore, you only have yourself to blame for playing the game in a way you didn't enjoy. You can't blame bungie for fixing that, especially since even yourself didn't enjoy chest runs and wanted it removed.

It's not out of choice...every group I've run with (including from here) has elected to cheese the Templar. Still, good it's fixed, looking forward to clearing it tonight.

I have cheesed the templar repeatedly as it is frustrating to have to keep running the raid hoping the RNG Gods will smile on you so I don't blame people for cheesing him. Though on the flipside, I have done it properly to know the frustration of killing the templar properly. Never done it without teleporting without cheesing so going to be intesting to try that :)

Yeah, I saw that but seemed coincidental that the patch drops and within a couple of hours 3 legenderies drop. One was from Cryptarch rank but the others were from the daily strike and a blue engram.
