Album of the Year 2014

Babymetal for me.

Other contenders:

††† - †††
The Glitch Mob - Love Death Immortality
Porter Robinson - Worlds
Aphex Twin - Syro

Die Antwoord - Donker Mag,
Azealia Banks - Broke with expensive taste
A winged victory for the sullen - Atomos
Royal Blood - Self titled
Ben Howard - I forgot where we were

I bought all of them (amongst others). All great. One I listened to the most though is AWVFTS. So that would be my pick. 2014 hasn't been a bad year for music actually.

I'm hoping to glean mine from the recommendations in this thread. Nothing has done it yet for me. However, I've given the following a whirl, and they're not bad at all:-

Opeth - Pale Communion
The Algorithm - OCTOPUS4
Animals as Leaders - Joy Of Motion
Skyharbor - Guiding Lights
Flying Lotus - You're Dead
Within The Ruins - Phenomena
Voicians - A Matter of Time
Devin Townsend - Casualties of Cool / Z²

The Skyharbor one tops it for me but I really haven't listened to it (or any of these) enough.

Aphex Twin - Syro

Honestly, I don't get the love for the album. And I have it and most of his other releases under Aphex Twin and various aliases. It didn't even make my top five. It's alright if you're a Twin fan as it's Twin and it's the sound you've come to expect from him. But there is absolutely nothing for me that makes it an album of the year other than who made it.

I actually think Plaid and Flying Lotus releases this year on warp are more enjoyable.

Sadly I agree. I was hoping for at least one Windowlicker on there (I'm not the most diehard of fans). The sounds/asthetic/production is there but not enough hooks for me.

The Glitch Mob - Love Death Immortality

Oo, an album of theirs I haven't heard.

For me it's probably Lagwagon - Hang. Somewhat different to the above, and I wasn't a massive fan of it first time around but it's grown on me to the point where I can't stop listening to it.
