Yup the key to this Nightfall (and any high level strike) is to not rush it. Solar burn made this one very easy as long as you don't go charging head first into a fray.

I died first time with "Pigtails" (level 30 Warlock) at the end to the Minotaur when I tried to rush it (boss down to ~20% health). He (Minotaur) still hits just as hard as before thus 2-3 shots and you are dead.

Second run through was fine - grenade the Minotaur and hit him with 15-20 shots from an upgraded solar HMG. Switch to Icebreaker and hit the boss 5 times (leaving a shot in reserve) before retreating back again to take on the Minotaur. Despite waiting to take on the Minotaur the boss still went down in 2-3 minutes....

Dropping down would be arguably tougher than normal as all of the adds do solar damage.

Also no matter how careful you are a level 29 hunter will be still be one shotted by a Hobby (this happened to me - I didn't even see the shot I just dropped dead exiting the door).

Did Nightfall and Weekly heroic three times last night in under 2 hours (including visits to the tower and hanging around for our third team member).

I now have 94 strange coins but won't be able to buy anything from Xur as I am away this weekend. Bugger!

Sadly I am aware for a christmas party in the Netherlands from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon so will miss Xur completely.

No doubt he will sell the Horn now.

Saying that I have ran out of vault space to move my "most used" guns between my characters. I now need to play a game of "hunt the gun" on each character (using the app where possible).

EDIT: Hang on though - I could use my Vita & remote play to log in if the hotels wifi is strong enough. I don't need to "play" the game just get to Xur - doesn't matter if there are stutters etc.

I've just checked, my mistake. Only between Xbox 360 and Xbox One or PS3 and PS4. I must have got my wires crossed when Bungie mentioned they CAN do it but they don't because Sony and MS don't play ball.
 
Still pretty sucky how long this lasts, I originally didnt realise it pertained to DLC too - imagine that would have partily funded a PS exclusive as no doubt wasnt cheap...

anyone around to help out on the xyor thorn bounty run 2nite please? - hopefully on about 8pm.

Put a solid three hours into getting the void kills on crucible - I found it was better to just play the game as I normally do, than be chicken and stick back camping (I hate camporz - lol) - 500 Points took me about 2.5hours and I'm crap at PvP too. Love my Purifier fusion rifle
 
So you can upgrade exotics to 320 attack/defence, but it costs an exotic shard and you have to level the No swearing - Davey thing up from scratch again :|

Best to not upgrade anything until patch is out....oh and if you're close to a new vanguard level, best hold off a bit so you can get a commendation when patch goes live.

been reading about this on reddit and it seems bungie like pain as they seem to shoot themselves in the foot about once a month
 
Don't see an issue with resetting certain weapons so you can over-level them. I'll only do it with my favourite, most used exotics.

I'm now only missing a few exotic weapons from my collection but only a hand full are maxed out. The raid weapons spend more time equipped on my characters.
 
The nightfall and weekly heroic are getting increased to level 30. They will be pretty tough the first few weeks until we can increase up to level 31-32.

Woop, i was bored of having everything maxed but now it's upgrade time again :D Really like the amount of effort bungie are putting into these new DLC ideas. Keeps the game fresh.

Agreed. I didn't like the idea at first but I'm warming to it. The new exotic version will have a base attack of 302, so instantly more powerful than we have now.

Also, don't forget that we know about this in advance. It'll be easy to fill all 10 bounty slots with completed 5000 xp bounties. Exchange your weapon then turn the bounties in. If you have 3 characters you could have 150k xp (plus nightfall and telemetry bonuses) and max out the exotic in one fell swoop. That's what I'll be doing.
 
Another thing to note, Bungie have confirmed the raid will be available from the start, though your fire team needs a level 30 characters to lead it.
