Do something nice this Christmas

Nice idea fair play.

Can I ask why you decided to film yourself doing it though? As oppsosed to just doing it and helping the bloke out?

Clearly you don't understand the point of charity. It's not to help others, it's for making yourself look good infront of peers. There is no way I'm going to give anything to homeless guy by me. He will just use it to buy more frosty jacks.

What a good guy.

Ignore the negativity in this thread, it doesn't matter what you do someone in GD will be against it.

frosty jacks.

I wasn't sure on what this was, so google...

Not normally a drinker for the last three years, going through a horrendous time, and previously a cider lover. I bought a bottle of this. Very pleasant cider, and the after effects are quite funny for me. Seriously, this is a very pleasant cider, and I will buy again.

This is a strong Cidar at 7% but was a lovely drink over the Christmas

If you can drink a bottle of this at pre-drinks, you are in for a great night!

Sounds like a lovely beverage. :D

Oh and this:
They're not grateful, generally, they don't like handouts like that I've often found from seeing other people trying the same. If you wanted to help you could volunteer your time rather than a pointless short term gesture so you can record yourself doing it.

"Look at me I'm doing good innit" videos, photos, threads etc. are just awful, silently helping is generally much better but hey, it's cool to post about stuff on social media so everyone knows how good a guy you are.

I was going to go full keyboard warrior then I read what you wrote properly.

My sarcasm radar needs a recharge :D

OP as said well done for doing something nice for someone in need. Just for me personally the video felt like you were doing it to impress others.

But that said at least you did something, many wouldn't.

I asked a homeless girl once if she would like me to get her something to drink from the shop (intending water/juice/coke/etc). Her response was "yeah mate, 4 pack of special brew please!!" :D

Didn't record myself and post on social media about it though :p

I didn't think giving to people was a reason to video it. I've spent loads on helping those less fortunate than me but I wouldn't video it as its just a "look at me" job.

Well done for being nice but didn't need a video. :p.

There are too many negative people in this world :( & most of the negative people most probably wouldnt give the time of day to a homeless person. Homelessness is very close to my heart as you will see if you look through my very open profile. Anyone could end up in this situation & i think it is great to get out there awareness in whatever form you wish, be it a video, a plea to help, a simple hello or buying a cup of coffee etc etc. The more likes, then the more shares, then the more people going out of their way to help the homeless. The beauty of facebook.:) Homeless people are the same as you or I, the only difference is they have fallen on hard times & have trouble getting out of that situation. As for the comments about 'he already has a coat & looks warm? Have you actually slept on the streets? one coat does not keep you warm. The coat can double as a pillow and another layer. It is also nice for the man to have a new fresh one as funnily enough the homeless dont have maching machines & tumble dryers! Always look beyond the cover of a book & see the real person beneath. Well done Will, i hope you would be generous enough to help someone less fortunate than yourself again :) x

Nice comment from someone

How many people have you met that have never heard nor come across a homeless person?

I haven't met any.

You're not raising awareness as much as you are being arrogant and patronising both to an unfortunate man twice your age who you "feel sorry for" and to the rest of us.

Charity is good, yes, but recording yourself is not the best way to go about it.
