Hi all,

Not sure if anyone here will be able to help but worth a try!

Over the weekend my phone died in my hands, it was on charge (low battery), turned off and wouldn't turn on again. It just displays the Samsung Galaxy Note logo and never gets passed that.

I tried to get into recovery CWM is installed) and I get MMC: mmc_read fail and Moviand Checksum Confirmation Fail.

I've tried to upload a PIT as Odin reports that there is no PIT partition - I'm using a few .pits I've found on the web and using the ROM from SamMobile - I believe this is the correct one. My sim is EE but the phone is unlocked so I picked the United Kingdom one. N9005XXUGNG1_N9005OXAGNJ3_N9005XXUGNG1_HOME.tar
However when I add the PIT to Odin and the tar to "PDA" in Odin I get "There is no PIT partition":

and on the screen itself in Download Mode gives these errors:
MMC: mmc_read fail
ODIN: flash read failure
SECURE CHECK FAIL: PIT

Could the hardware have failed... I'm not even that bothered about the phone itself, I just really want to try and get the data off it - but don't think there is a way to do this without booting into a ROM or at least recovery to use ADB.

Any help would be appreciated!

Tried that as said in the thread, I used "N9005XXUGNG1_N9005OXAGNJ3_N9005XXUGNG1_HOME.tar" from SamMobile - downloading another UK one now to try that..

Annoying :(

Yup, that one gives the:

<ID:0/011> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/011>
<ID:0/011> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

and on the screen ODIN: flash read failure

Think it really is hard bricked.

That's what I thought but now thinking otherwise.. tried that before - just did it again:

Code:
<ID:0/011> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> N9005XXUGNG1_N9005OXAGNJ3_N9005XXUGNG1_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/011> Odin v.3 engine (ID:11)..
<ID:0/011> File analysis..
<ID:0/011> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/011> Initialzation..
<ID:0/011> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/011> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/011> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/011>
<ID:0/011> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

and the "flash read failure" on the screen.

Tried on my Mac using my VM but that didn't work either - going to try another Windows PC now... EDIT: Same problem exactly.. :(

Are you doing the re-partition? Your PIT partition is missing from the log so don't you have to Flash the pda, pit and re-partition? This is a question, don't do it before someone confirms this is the right path.

This is how my Odin looks:

Did you try doing it with the files they used in the guide I linked.

It doesn't matter that it's a German rom. I used to regularly run European roms on my Galaxy s2

Just tried that one but same as the UK ROM.
de-tick re-partition, try other USB ports.

"There is no PIT partition" again, even tried another PC as well as different USB ports =/

Just gone through parts of the thread, didn't really see anything which helped unfortunately. Tried a ROM from a link I found on that site and a different PIT file but same old problems. thanks anyway

I am disappointed how I sent Samsung an email last Tuesday and haven't heard back from them yet about warranty. However as Knox is tripped it is probably a waste of time even trying to persue warranty - especially as I have no receipt.
