Looking for a new winter coat/jacket.

I hate shopping in the real world but with clothing it is a must to at least try something on before seeing if it can be had cheaper elsewhere. Made a mistake of buying Levi jeans recently online and had to return them.

I have around a hundred quid to spend and my main stipulation it must be warm as I have thyroid issues so feel the cold more than most. Hood would be good though not essential. I note that most of my existing winter jackets are black and therefore boring so perhaps another colour choice.

I am venturing out later this morning to look for this item and will probably look in most of the high st chains, I am so looking forward to this, (not).

Oh and I am not a spring chicken neither do I want to look like I am close to pushing up the daisies.

Any thoughts or links greatly appreciated. :)
 
Just get one of those quilted down jackets that hikers use, warmest things out there.
Actually some are too warm even for UK snow.
Get a down fill, the cheaper synthetic ones can move around after washing and leave cold spots.

I've no idea why people fuss over a winter coat, it's dark, nobody is looking at the logo.

Debenhams have an online sale at the moment, as do most of them really,
 
I think you should go out and see what you like. The last thread about Superdry stuff was painful but also hilarious. Go out, buy your jacket and then post how awesome you and it are.
 
If your not bothered about it being the newest style you could try somewhere like TK Maxx, good selection of decent ski coats etc at reasonable prices, i got a Quiksilver Utility ski coat for 45quid a few weeks ago, microfiber lined with decent padding. Good selection here : Surfdome
 
TKMaxx is a darn good shout. And if you find a coat you like but they don't have your size, you can often get a correct size from their website.
 
You must go and spend £eleventybillion on a top of the range hiking coat, it's the only way no to be mocked by the elite on here.

I have a Berghaus fleece and light weight waterproof jacket, I either wear them together or separately obviously depending on the weather, I've had them both for about 3 years now and never felt the need to change them they still look and feel new
 
Tbh I'd check out sportsdirect online or go to tkmax, that's where you'll get the best vfm, i love down for breathability and warmth but you'll have to really spend to get a waterproof down.
