New Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-X Issue

Just got my new graphics card in my machine , and so far twice it has just black screened on me . I upgraded from a Sapphire 7850 , and i thought i might be just driver issue .

So I have just freshly formatted the computer (Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit), installed the 14.9 drivers and again randomly while installing my Steam library back , it blacks screens on me.

My Specs are as follows
Silverstone FT02-WRI Case
Intel i7 930
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R - Latest BIOS
Corsair HX850 PSU
Crucial MX100 512Gb SSD
Dell U2414H Screen connected via DisplayPort

Any one else has anything else that i can check before i RMA this card.

Sounds like a faulty card, however before you do that please try the latest driver (and uninstall the old one first prior to this) which is 14.1.2. If it still occurs at idle then the card is faulty.

EDIT

If you could try it on another pc that might be advisable, just to be 100% sure.
 
Thanks for the advice , I'll download and try the 14.1.2 drivers and see how it goes , however it hasn't black screened since the once after a fresh format of the machine.
 
ok it has done it again when trying to install the 14.11.2 drivers , not looking good for this card at all.

Trying to see if pushing the bios button on the card helps at all.

UPDATE :- No difference as it has just black screened again .

If possible try the card in a PC with PCI-E 3.0 support.

The above should not make any difference, I have run my 290Xs on PCI-E 1.0 2.0 and 3.0 but you never know.

Going to try running it on a HDMI cable instead of a Mini DP to DP Cable to see if it makes a difference

UPDATE :- still no difference on HDMI , i think it is getting worse the black screen issue.

UPDATE :- i have reseated the GPU , checked the Plugs , also reinstalling Windows again to see.
