Gah, I am tearing my hair out trying to find a headset that is cheap but doesn’t fall apart. My son has gone through 4 headsets this year some of them not so cheap and all but one have fallen apart with no physical damage(one he dropped). Apart from the one he dropped they have all had a screw which holds the earpieces on come loose which then caused the earpiece to come away and the unbelievably thin wires just break.

Does anyone know of a more robust gaming headset, sound quality matters very little at this point as long as they are usable and don’t fall apart.

What have you tried so far?

I use YOUR BASKET
1 x Plantronics Gamecom 788 Surround Sound USB Gaming Headset £44.99
Total : £50.96 (includes shipping : £4.98).

I bught them a year ago on the premise that they claimed to be hard wearing

"Designed to be around for all your battles, superhero-strength cords and joints won't let you down"

many a time I have thought, 'oh poo that must have killed them this time'...

... but indeed, they have not let me down.

I'm buying another pair for one of my kids this year in fact. Oh and the 7.1 is really good.

He's has a Plantronics GameCom 367, 2x Creative Fatality HS-800s and a Asus Cerberus. He broke the Plantronics when he forgot he was wearing it and moved away from the computer and it came off his head an broke. The other 3 all had the earcup fall off because the screw inside behind the speaker loosened and the wire then broke when the cup came free. The wires are rediculously thin otherwise I could have just reattached the cup with the screw.
