MSI z97 Gaming 9 vs Sound Blaster z

Looking at the specs of the mobo it should easily beat out a Sound Blaster Z and may even push up towards STX territory. Rather than add the sound codec as an afterthought they have given up board space to build a very high specced sound card with a very decent Wolfson DAC, Processor, ADC and powerful headphone amp (same as in the STX and ZxR) that should have no trouble powering most high impedance headphones. There is no mention of output impdeance, so how it will play with low impedance headphones/headsets is unknown. It also uses Nichicon and WIMA capacitors and is extensively shielded from EMI.

Not what I wanted to hear lol

Thanks mate, guess i'll just after switch between them and test. I have a feeling £60 sound card is going up for sale.

My MSI G65 mobo claimed all sorts of sound greatness, it was a load of drivel compared to the STX i got. Yours claims to have good Asio support which mine didn't...and was a primary area i needed to work so you might be ok.
