Super Smash Bros, for Wii U and 3DS

It's being intentionally crippled for competitive play so I'd avoid pouring too much effort into "learning the game properly" for the for glory mode online.

That's not a bad thing, but definitely the way Nintendo are heading. Just relax and play the cluster **** mode online.

What update has crippled it so far? The update they've done has actually helped it competitively by removing vectoring and replacing it with DI.

They have also been balancing the game with patches, we can't say if they will remove any found techs yet. I haven't been following the 3DS version closely but I haven't heard anything about removed techs.

It's not like it takes nearly as much time to learn this game as it does melee/PM anyway. You could probably learn 10 characters in the same time it take to learn 1 in melee/PM.

Meantime - back on planet earth - where not everyone takes games as serious as life and death and not everyone is some sort of gaming god - it's a lot of fun - every Wii U owner needs this game.

Jesus, some people.

is there a story mode to this game, ive never played it before but ive seen some of it on youtube, so im guessing you unlock skills and stuff from completing the story line.

That's my point, if you just want to face roll with some friends this game is awesome!

My comment was directed towards Kreeeee, who seems to think its a throwaway game because it doesn't meet his competitive standards.

I don't think you've been reading my posts :p

No real story mode, but there are many single player modes where you play through matche(s) with varying conditions. There's a lot of unlocks and challenges which can be quite fun to play for.

However, Smash is a game built from the ground up as a multiplayer experience. Buying Smash Bros. just for it's single player, is kind of like buying The Last of Us just for it's multiplayer.

Providing your internet connection is fast and reliable, you can have a lot of fun online. The online 1v1 can be quite intense too, especially if you're a bit competitive and like to really 'learn' and get stuck into the finer mechanics of games.

Nothing beats playing local matches with friends in the same room though.

If you're thinking about playing it seriously its still a great game IMO.

Agreed - I feel it's it's a good game to get stuck into, especially if you're like me and haven't really played Smash outside of casual fun matches with friends. I find it hard to put down when playing 1v1 FG, adapting to a matchup and beating someone who beat you in a previous match can be very satisfying.

The reviews on Amazon regarding the GC controller version are pretty hilarious (not from the buyers perspective). Amazon really slipped up on this one I think!

I bought mine from Amazon and it arrived on Day 1. However, with the prices sky rocketing, I might have to put mine on eBay. Especially after discovering that the Mario GameCube controller can be used via a Wii-mote.

I have a GC adapter that I don't use as I also have the superior Mario GC style pad. Maybe I should sell it!

Never sold anything on eBay before though because of all the horror stories I've read about them bending the seller over.

I've been using eBay for cracking on 12 years now and I've very seldom had any issues with the 500+ transactions I've experienced.

Most recently I made a purchase and it never arrived, so the seller sent another one out immediately after and resolved the matter. I think that's the only issue I've had that I can remember!

Just make sure, if it's high in value, that you send it recorded for proof of postage and receipt. It's up to you what you deem 'high in value'. It's certainly not as bad as the horror stories make out. Not even close.

Who's the best character to be for a noob like me ? And what's the best game mode to learn fighters I just keep button bashing with game pad hoping for the best !

There's a training mode where the AI just stand still for you to hit them in various ways - practice in there!
