picked up my 653 Record tubed ribble steely from Argos in Bristol today. Looks amazing in flamboyant red

frame weighs 1800g and fork 640g, pretty damn good for lugged steel. Before I stripped it it was built up (just) sub 9kg. A few component changes before the rebuild should see that drop a touch, I'd be happy with 8.8kg

Sounds epic. Pics please :)

My 531 frame with 501 fork comes in at 9.25 kg with no particularly light components, so a sub 9 kg build should be no problem on yours.

What a horrible ride this morning

Club ride was cancelled due to no leaders

went out on my own and the heavens opened, heavy rain all morning, so cut my ride short

didn't wear my water proof gloves so my hands were soaked
my planet X bib tights attracted the water so my legs where getting cold
other than that I was fine in my soft shell, didn't take my rain jacket

Turns out my mech hanger was banana shaped following my off last month so I replaced that today, but a turbo tyre on the Powertap wheel and cleared out the garage.

The garage is dead, long live the turbo dungeon.

Sounds in contrast to my ride Shiwarrior, which actually was pretty ok, bit chilly on way out but layered up, so by the time I met up with a mate, was sweating, jacket and snood off, then about 4 miles later it rained! HARD! for about 5 minutes, then was sunny but windy for the rest of the ride, roads were surprisingly clear from debris, good 50 miles moderate effort, and a nice little cafe stop for Panini too!

I've just been out for the better part of 30 miles. I was really slow because it was cold and very windy. I climbed Rivington (cat 3) for the 12th time this year, so mission accomplished there. I had a hailstorm come down on me as I was starting the climb, so that was lovely!

I don't know if I'll manage much for the rest of the year if the weather goes downhill like they're threatening. We'll see.

Went outside for the first time on my bike this morning to get a feel for things, didn't stray too far!

Pardon my ignorance but I seemed to run out of gears very quickly :p

Admittedly it was a flat route I went on but my legs seemed to be going like the clappers whilst not going that fast!

Also if anyone is around the Chichester area and wants to show me some routes please help :D

Sounds like you're doing the gears wrong one way or another. Big gear at the front, small at the back for going fast; big gear at the back, small gear at the front for going uphill.

Went for my short hill route today, thankfully took the kids to winter wonderland this morning so missed that nasty downpour.

Was very happy with myself, normally I just sit in the saddle up chinnor hill but today I decided to get out and it was a huge difference and wasn't anywhere near as tiring as I expected the climb to be.

I'm struggling for time as working away until next year - most I have is 30-60mins every couple of days. I'm getting fat and lazy and hate it.

What is the most constructive training for that time frame? I can go spinning every night so should I just do that instead? Sometimes I prefer to do it on my own as I don't understand the instructors (Yorkshire lol) so I find it frustrating more than anything.

Where I am - near Xscape in Yorkshire the roads are very busy, dark and dangerous I.M.O. so no road cycling.

Spinning would be good provided its proper interval training rather than simulated road riding. To be honest, watching your diet and doing some exercise you enjoy is always the answer.

Maxeh is a fairly beefcakey guy so I don't imagine his diet is bad or his general fitness. That said, without also seeing his actual cadence what felt like "spinning really fast" may have actually been quite low cadence. Tough to compare without real numbers :)

Huh? I was talking to helpimcrap.

Yeah, when I asked what bike maxeh had I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a CX chainset or something like that. The Boardmans all come with compacts don't they? Still spinning like mad is subjective as I immediately think 130rpm and upwards.

It is kind of interval training.

Trouble is I have to eat in restaurants every night!
Trying to avoid mixed grills. Living off camel, kangaroo, chicken, crocodile, crab, lobster and lots of other 'animals' with zebra and reindeer soon! Lol

I'm snowboarding couple of hours a week.

And I am a pain for having puddings! Limit myself to apple pie and custard. ;)

I saw you had cycled near me from your strava links but didn't realise you where here as well. The way that came down around 10-10.30 I'm impressed you lasted that long in it, was not nice and I was sat in the car.
