No. I block ads by default, but allow them on sites that I rely on or use frequently, as long as the ads aren't completely detrimental to browsing. Google Ads don't bother me at all, they're quite restrained in size and position and often relevant.

One of the sites I feel no guilt over blocking ads on is youtube. They're horribly intrusive by forcing people to watch them and Google has enough money.

What I'd prefer more is a way for sites to detect if users are using Adblock and tailoring their content to suit, ie. only tje most basic content, half articles, that sort of thing. These sites generate revenue from their ads which is used to create more content. By using adblocker you're effectively denying the publishers a stream of income which might discourage them, which is something that affects all of us.

I see websites do that fairly often. They have a message where the ad is along the lines of "Consider turning off ABP to support us". I can't help but oblige if they're smart about it.

Can you stop those annoying auto-start adverts?!

Yeah, Adblock Plus stops them altogether. I've been using it since before Youtube had them, so for years I never realised they existed. Then I saw someone else browising it and imagine my shock and horror!

I use adblock but have disabled it for youtube. I dont mind the intro ads where you have a choice to skip but im getting miffed at in stream ads. I put on a nursary ryme video for my nephew recently and it was 30 odd minutes long but seemed to go to ads every 5 minutes

I don't think I'd pay. Most adverts are not that intrusive and I ignore those that are left. I also use Adblock but not on sites I use frequently, and need the revenue, such as the following which is one of the most useful websites out there imo...

dont care about unobtrusive ads, like here. dont really go on sites that have ridiculous popup ads.

I do use adblock because yt ads can sometimes randomly glitch on me meaning ill get like a 20 min ad that I cant skip, if it worked I might consider not using it at all.

that said, ill put adblock on any pc thats going to be used by someone who isnt Internet savvy, the number of hax from ads is unreal

Depends on the service. I pay for Reddit Gold as I spend a lot of time there, so they deserve my money.

Ads don't bothers me as long as it's taylored to me and my shopping needs at the time, want bothers me is when I get adverts for stuff that is not related. i.e. an Union Jack advert in front of a Hip hop track.

If it was truly ad-free and we didn't see them trying to creep it back in in a few years then yes, I probably would pay.

However I don't trust Google et al not to, hence i'll carry on with ABP.
